  • Please help!! No weighloss!!

    Hello, I have been doing atkins for 4 weeks and i am still in induction. In the first three weeks I lost 16lbs. This week (starting monday) I weighed 199 (my first goal!) And now it's sunday.. the end of my week and guess what.. I STILL weigh 199. I am a person that weighs everyday. I like to make sure everything I'm doing is working for me. This week I have gone up and down!! But I ended at the exact weight I started at. I have not cheated AT ALL!!! I almost never eat 20 carbs. I usually eat..

    Breakfast..
    2-3 eggs (usually just the whites)
    3-4 pc bacon

    Snack
    cheese

    Lunch
    1/4lbs turkey
    1 pickle

    Dinner
    Salad w/ dressing (never more then 6 carbs in dressing)
    steak.. or chicken.. or hamburger

    I always drink atleast 64oz of Water. Usually more then 100oz.
    no soda.. no caff.... not even any splenda.

    And that is pretty much what I eat everyday. Please someone tell me why I haven't lost any weight???

    I honestly wouldnt worry about 1 week honey .. just keep going, some weeks you lose, some you dont .. its the end results that count ... but here are a few thought?

    Eat the yolks ... The fat will help!! You NEED to keep the fat up.

    What kind of turkey are you talking about? Is it processed? alot of processed meats are cured with sugars

    Is there sugar in the dressing?

    16 lbs is a great loss for 4 weeks .. Just keep up the good work and im sure you will reach your goal in no time

      First, are you eating 3 cups of veggies? You should get 12-15 g of those 20 out of carbs. And that dressing (6 g of carbs??) doesn't sound good to me. Does it have sugar among the ingredients? Or what is the amount you use? 6 g is a lot for a dressing.

      Second, you gotta get out of induction! Many of us stall if they stay on induction too long for no reason. Add more veggies (5g net carbs) and your weight loss should restart.

        I usually dont eat the yolk b/c I don't like them.. I think I picked that up on some other kind of diet and it just stuck... But I'll start eating them.

        The turkey.. I get it from a deli. I dont think it has sugar.. I will ask the owner. I don't know if it is processed. I know they slice it fresh there.

        The dressing says.. "less then 2% of the following.." and sugar is listed. It only has 1 carb per 2 tablespoons. I dont know where i got 6 carbs. I meant to say.. 3 carbs. I usually eat 6 T. I know that's alot... but that is for atleast 2 cups salad. I have a problem getting my green veggies.. b/c I hate them all. I know that sounds like a little kid.. but I can't even swallow.. green beans.. pea.. etc. So it's salad for me (when I say salad I mean lettuce. Hehe)

        The dressing should be ok.. right?

        I have stayed in induction b/c I read on here that if you have more then 50 to lose that you should. I had 85. Now I have 70. I really want to lose the most weight possible by christmas. I was hoping to be down around 160. I know that is sortof a high goal. But I am 23 and I figured it would be a bit easier for me to lose the weight.

          I lost 55lbs in 4 months, Which was quite alot.. So im not sure if you will lose all the weight by christmas, BUT you may be able to and u will look Fantastic. Regardless. (this was over 2yrs ago)

          I have been going through a "Mini" Stall.. and beleive me.. tried so many things to get me out of it.. (its fustrating when i never had a stall while on atkins the first time) Here are a few ideas, Make sure you are eating enough Calories (1200 - 1500) Work out (however be away that muscles hold water weight through recovery, and muscle weighs more then fat) And Really.. If i was you, I would cut out the Turkey.. Just incase the deli is adding something to it.. or just ask them.. It turned out my deli was cooking chickens in carb filled salt stuff...

          Also, i read recently about a few people that didnt lose anything in Induction for the first few weeks.. then started losing.. Or the other way around.. Just like You..I heard some scary cases of people not losing for 2 months.. But they stuck to the diet, and then lost 10lbs overnight one of the girls said.. Not over one week.. but overnight which is insane!

          Anyways, Just try and stick to it.. Atkins should work for you.. I think it works for everyone.. The important part is just being stubborn and sticking to it.

            I discovered (well "I" didn't discover it...someone here directed me to it) FitDay.com which got me right out of the stall that I was in for over a week. It allows you to plug in your food, excercise, goals and tells you where you are. I discovered that I didn't eat near enough fat or calories in a day and was essentially starving myself which leads to stalls.

            So I added fat..FAT of all things and have started losing again.

            As soon as I started FitDay, which was last Friday, I have lost 3.5 pounds. I can figure out how much more excercise I need to do in a day to reach my intake and weight loss goals, it is excelent and I am a complete addict.

            I would really recommend it.

              How does fitday tell you how much excerise you need? I thought it only gave you food info?

                There is an entire "activities" section that lets you plug in what exercise you are doing and calculates how much you can eat in calories and still lose weight. While I understand that Atkins isn't a calorie plan, I watch my calories anyway and if I see that I need to expend another 250 calories today to stay on my weight loss goal, it motivates me to go out and walk around the block a few times.

                You can also manage your fat/protein/carb ratio which is helpful for Atkins.

                It works for me anyway.

                  I know how you feel. My weight goes up and down all week long. They say weightloss is not linear and they arent kidding. Just stick to it. I just remind myself all the time that as long as I weigh less on the first of the month than i did the first of the month last month its a good thing.

                    would anyone tell me if there's something wrong with my daily menu??
                    because i've stopped losing weight and iam no longer in ketosis.

                    breakfast: can of tuna, 2 soft boiled eggs and a small cup of decaf coffee with one splenda sweetner

                    lunch: spinich and 2 medium sized salmon fillet.

                    sometime snack: 1 bbq chicken breast

                    dinner: a cup of brocclie and half cup cauliflouer with ground beef sometimes, and sometimes more chicken. and some water ofcourse.

                    is there something wrong with this?? it seems fine to me, but i've stopped losing weight for some reason

                      I think your Menu looks fine, unless its to do with having your coffee.. i hear coffee can stall some people.

                      However, I Think your weightloss has slowed because your almost down to your goal weight. Its alot harder for someone to lose weight if they havent got much to lose.

                        SHAY: 2 things:

                        1.) The main thing here is that you are at your ideal body weight and incredibly healthy BMI. The more you try to creep into the "underweight" BMI range, the more your body will fight back - and with good cause! It somehow knows that being underweight puts you at risk for osteoperosis, depression, amenorrhea, and cardiac arrhythmia. The closer you creep toward the low end of your healthy BMI the more nervous and hesitant to lose your body becomes.

                        2.) While this isn't a diet that we pay a ton of attention to calories on, perhaps your issue is that with all that meat you are feeding your body more calories than it needs to operate instead of forcing it to seek "spare" body fat for fuel, assuming you have any left.

                          I am really no expert, but I wonder if you body might be at its comfortable weight right now. You look really good and it doesn't appear that you need to lose any more. Just my two cents.......Karen

                            ya i think eating alot of meat is my problem. i just never feel full. i used to feel full on the first week of induction, but now i feel like i can eat allll day long, so i just indulge on things that have no carbs or sugars --> meats.
                            i will try to cut down my meat intake. perhaps in my case i need to work out to burn al the extra fat i have ?!, i know im already small. but i would like to get pregnant within the next year, and i want to lose as much weight as possible b4 i do that, coz i know i will be stuck with alot of weight after giving birth lol.
                            But thank you so much girls for the compliments and advice, i really needed it, and it keeps me motivated. your all FaBuLoUs

                              some times our bodies just need to adjust.. its tramatic to lose 16 lbs in 2 weeks.. your body may just be holding on .. learning to adjust to the weight loss.. keep on doing what you are doing and it will go down. really it will
