Re: 2 of us are trying and only one is losing HELP

Thank you EVERYTHING HELPS - the biggest challenge is that we own several businesses and don't have a lot of time to prepare meals....we are struggling with what we CAN eat other than steak, chicken, shrimp and salad...Snacks are a big problem..any ideas are welcome. My stick turned to "Moderate" today so who the heck knows. Yesterday it was one shade above the lowest color (a light pink)....today 2 steps up from that...I'm going to stick with it but always looking for ideas advice.

You have to eat your 3 cups of veggies a day. Non-negotiable. The average person loses between 5-10% of the weight they need to lose during induction. So you are doing good! Drink you water. Keep to your limits. Take your measurements as lots of times the tape measure moves and the scale doesn't...and viseversa. Print out the sticky in this forum for the wallet size induction list. Stick to it. Check out the link in my sig line for some recipe ideas. Check out the induction forum. There was a post in there yesterday about snack ideas that may help you. Good luck!

if you are using the sticks the goal is to get it to change color...not to get it deep purple. Any change in color means your body is ridding itself of fat. If you are drinking lots of water...and you should be...that dilutes the color of the stick. Deep purple could mean you are dehydrated or you ate lots of fat.

Prep your food on the weekends. Make up some quiches for breakfast. Casseroles for supper.

Be aware your processed meats could contain sugars and also high sodium which could make you retain water which reflects on the scale.

Re: 2 of us are trying and only one is losing HELP

Hi~ well looking at your sample menu, I only saw about a half a gram of veggies. When you say small I'm guessing about a cup, and a cup of shredded romaine is only .51 net grams. It seems the recommended wisdom to have some carbs, fat and protein at every meal, so you could load your scrambled eggs with some bell pepper, spinach, green onion...

maybe have a bigger salad at lunch or dinner, with cucumber and tomatoes, etc (there's a list of induction veggies. Remember they say most (13-15 grams) of the carbs should come from veggies on the induction lists. Remember to count the carbs in the dressing. Making something simple with olive oil and vinegar (not balsamic. darn it) will give back some carbs to spend on a goody like sour cream, or cream for your coffee.

Have a cup of higher carb veggie like cauliflower, broccoli, zuchinni. It can get pretty challenging to make 2/3 0f the carbs vegetable... Your body may think it's starving.

Watch the sugarfree jellos and diet sodas... we're only allowed the equivalent of 3 splenda packets. I read somewhere, that some of our systems are so keyed into sweets, that just tasting something sweet will cause a release of insulin... Use induction to break your dependence on sweets as much as possible.

Snacks? you could boost your carb intake with veggies for snacks... and grab a bite of meat or eat another egg. At this point (someone correct me if I'm wrong) watching the portions isn't as important as breaking the sugar/insulin/craving cycle, and feeling satisfied. If you don't feel ravenous, then you are more likely to stay with it. So having protein and plenty of fat is important... you can adjust the protein portions after the evil spell is broken. ( I know too much can be processed as glucose)

          hope that helps a little.

Lost another pound today so I've lost 5 lbs in the first 8 days. Not too bad. I've added the veggies that are allowed a bit of broccoli and more romaine lettuce. Thanks for all of the help!
