So, the 3 C of veggies I eat....are they included in my 20carbs a day? if so, how do I know how many carbs each veggie has?

I am on my second day of drinking water. any tips to make it a little easier going down?

I have stopped drinking coffee in the AM and pop (maybe 1 dc with splenda a day) I dont want to waste the cream carbs for my cofffee. in the evenings i have been drinking ice tea (unsweetened herbal) and that has been a good substitute. Once a day I will also drink a 4C too (no carbs, made with splenda).

I am not sure if I am not eating enough, but I am getting hungry between meals. In the AM, I have 1C of my veggies. In the PM what would be a good snack. When I get home from work I have been having an egg, but I don't want to burn myself sick of eggs.

I am in the induction phase.

What is everyone's saving grace on this diet? Is there one thing that keeps you goin?

    Just really hoping this works!!

Hey Izza! You can find carb information pretty easily online, there's one on the Atkins website:

Carb Counter & Weight Loss Calculator - Diet Plans & Tools From Atkins

I'm bad about drinking my water too so I'll be curious what other people say. One thing that keeps me going - mini goals (small amounts of weight, or fitting into a certain size, whatever works for you).

      Re: Few Questions

This is my 2nd day also of drinking water, and I get hungry in between meals to, so today i started putting crystal light in one of my 8 glasses of my water, and it's seem to take the hungry away for about an hour.

So if you find something else to do let me know.

      thanks

Yes, those 3 cups of veggies should make 12-15 g of the 20 g of net carbs you are allowed to have in a day. Use Fitday to track your food. You need to create an account, but it's worth it.

The more water you drink, the more you get used to it. Before Atkins I used to drink about a glass per day (how the heck was I surviving?!), but now I easily drink +100 ounces.

If you really want to flavour your water, an idea would be to add a bit of lemon in it. Or a slice of cucumber (it's not as weird as it sounds).

If you are hungry then you should eat. Go for some fatty meals instead of high protein ones. Those will help keep the hunger away.

You should have something more than a cup of veggies in the morning. Why don't you add some eggs (omelet, scrambled... your choice), cheese, or even meat?

If you're talking about food, I don't have one. What keeps me going is thinking about Atkins not as a diet, but as a healthy way of eating. It's the main thing that makes it easier for me to say 'pass' to pasta, bread or sweets.

It does if you stick to it! Good luck!

          Re: Few Questions

The 3C of veggies ARE part of your carb intake, but in Induction you should focus on getting your 3C in and not as much on the best breakdown of allowable veggies to reach 20 carbs. I found on Induction that I rarely consumed 20 net carbs while eating the veggies and limited amounts of dairy foods with carbohydrates.

As for water, for me it was a gradual change of habit that required some willpower and conscious thought early on. Of course the same can be said for steering clear of refined carbohydrates early on as well. Initially I would keep a 1 liter bottle at my desk at work and make sure I didn't leave until I drank two bottle of water. I also found it a little easier to join the water challenge on ADBB as a motivator to get my hydration in for a virtual award. Over time, I began to actually enjoy water although in the beginning it was certainly a chore.

Stick with it -- you sound like you're on par for success!

            Re: Few Questions

I don't know if this is strange for anyone but I find it easier to get the water down if I keep it at room temperature. I can gulp a whole glass down at a time if I find myself lagging behind what I expect of myself to have gone by then ( such as a busy day at work where I spend very little time at my desk). I also try to make sure that I have a certain amount of water gone by lunchtime and suppertime so I don't end up having to go pee 100 times in the late evening.

Have your water within hand's reach as much as possible and you will find yourself reaching for it without thinking. In the beginning, as someone else said, you have to make a concentrated effort to remember to get the water in but after a while, it becomes second nature.

Initially, I drank so much water that I felt soooooo bloated it was ridiculous...but now if I go a little while without water, my mouth feels dry.

              Porkrinds are my new God.

I am a chip girl. I'd take chips n dip over a brownie.

So when I found out I could have some porkrinds, I tried them, and although I'd spent a lifetime shunning them, they magically provided that CRUNCH that I was really missing. Then I realized i could dip them in some sour cream and salsa or tabasco. Thing is, I don't overdo it because they are so rich tasting.. well they are meat. Of sorts.

That and the fact that I can still have cheese and sour cream... I don't get hungry or even munchy between meals... which really helps.

I've found that the more I sweat the easier it is to down a lot of water.

Pork Rinds and Cheese slices get me through snacky hunger cravings. I've also found that ham with cheese melted on it or a hot dog in the microwave for a minute are easy craving crushers. A handful of slivered almonds works for me too.

PowerAid Zero tastes better to me than adding the Crystal Lite packets to water. Our Wal-Mart has them for 60 cents each (32oz bottle). I drink 2 per day in addition to the water I'm drinking.

Just a thought here, at the end of the day it's your choice...

You are allowed 3 servings of sweetener per day, and usually the serving size for drinks is 8 oz. So in 64 oz, there are 8 servings. I'm pretty sure that makes more than 3 servings of splenda.

Some people might have issues with this, some not... just keep an eye on it.
