What is the concensus on atkins shakes? I saw some at the atkins store. Would it be ok to have one /week? Iwas thinking of blending it with ice and using as a snack after a lighter lunch. Thanks

Re: atkins shake
It is a known staller. I wouldn't have it during week one. If the ingredients are not on the induction list then it is not allowed. Stick with the list. Check out the calories...I wouldn't call that a 'lighter lunch'. Stay strong!Elsie150

You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it. ~Maya Angelo~

Re: atkins shake
Personally, I was never much of a breakfast person. I used to chocolate drinks to sort of wean me off soda (which I had first thing in the morning) and into eating breakfast. Now I eat eggs most mornings, but when I am in a hurry and don't have time I grab a chocolate drink. It is better than skipping breakfast.
I haven't experienced a stall from it, but I am careful to add it into the medu on FitDay so I know the impact on the rest of my days meals.
Some people don't respond well to artificial sweetners, so I would say try it for a few days. If you stall, then you know. But it does work for me.

Re: atkins shake
It will be interesting to see what the others say. From reading many other posts on this same subject I stand by saying that during induction you should be eating whole foods an from the list ONLY to get the most weight loss during induction. Why take a chance and mess up your induction results?
As for trying it for a few days to see if your body reacts...induction is not the time for that. Climbing the rungs is when you start experimenting to see what reacts with your body. Again...if it isn't on the induction list it is not 'legal' and should be avoided.
Interested in the other opinions coming.Elsie150

Re: atkins shake
I agree in principle that they probably should be avoided during induction. But not always being a man of principle
, I bought a Sam's Club-size pack (24 servings) before I began induction, mainly to use as a quick breakfast like MsManners does. I knew one wouldn't be enough to hold me until lunch, but I was hoping two would. Not! I feel fuller longer after a 3-egg omelet and sausage or bacon. So now for most work days I make breakfast the night before and throw it in the microwave at work.
Meanwhile I've got a bunch of shakes still to use up. So I'm using them as a snack when I get a hankering for something sweet and when my daily carb count allows (I'm on the first rung of OWL), probably 2-3 times a week.
The chocolate flavor (the flavor Sam's had) isn't as milky as I like, so I add two ounces of heavy cream to it.

Re: atkins shake
I have had a couple of the shakes. I haven't noticed any stalling. I am in extended induction so I'm not following it to the letter quite like I did in the first two weeks. I like the Atkins strawberry one. It's smooth and yummy and is a nice treat when I need something sweet.
Good luck.~~~Donna~~~

Re: atkins shake
I'm going to get some shakes after induction if I lose weight. It is very time consuming to cook everything I have to cook! Today I made deviled eggs, Salmon with butter and spices, spaghetti squash and fried up a pound of bacon! That will last my hubby and I a few days but it will be nice to have one or two days a week when I can just have a shake and not have to worry about cooking all day. Just give me a little break! Plus it will be a change also. I do LOVE the taste of the natural fresh food though! Yumm!Originally posted by MommaRuthie View PostWhat is the concensus on atkins shakes? Hugs!
Marcia-I'm going to make something with pumpkin tonight also.
