  • I almost cheated - BUT I DIDN'T

Oh my Lord ya'll... this morning I almost made a terrible mistake. I took my daughter to school and stopped at Sonic for her because she hadn't had time to eat. I got to the drive through and before I could even think about it.. I ordered our usual... Two Bacon Egg and Cheese Toaster Combos with Tomatoes, Tator Tots, and 2 Cherry Cokes. It's like the words just slid out of my mouth without my permission. I was two cars behind the window to pay and REALITY slapped me in my face and told me to drive the heck out of there as fast as I could. I hate that I drove off without the order but I've worked so dang freakin hard to get to this point and I knew cheating that bad wasn't worth it. My daughter was like "Uhhh I'm hungry here". I told her we'd stop somewhere else. GUESS WHAT.. we ended up at another Sonic down the street but this time I had control. I ordered her what she wanted and ordered myself... 2 sides of bacon and a Route 44 water! I WAS SOOOOOOO PROUD OF MYSELF! Man ya'll.. that was really hard to do... but I did it... and now I'm at the office, working and not feeling guilty that I let food control me.

The weight isn't coming off this week like I expected.. but at least I know it's not because of something wrong I'm doing and because of that, I'm less stressed about the scales.

Love ya'll for all of your support and giving me a place to share my journey...hard days and all!

way to go for not cheating. you didn't let the food control you. you ordered out of habit. the good news is you told yourself no instead of well i ordered it now. i'll eat it just this once. congratulations

My advice to myself: look in the mirror and tell yourself that that "cheat" is what got you here in the first place! You can make it without it!!!

Maybe going forward to avoid a situation like this, you can prepare breakfast the night before and avoid the drive through all together, doing this can save alot of time, and money! This is not only good for you, but also for your daughter, it's best to teach them good eating habits while they're young (cherry coke for breakfast is a horrible choice for anyone, sorry).

Congratulations on walking away from the cheat!!!

GOOD FOR YOUUUU! You have good reason to be proud. The big thing about Atkins is that you're making lifestyle changes for yourself and then again, for your family.
Planning and preparing food is everything to being successful with this lifestyle. Jen is right, Make time to plan and prepare food ahead of time. That's how i've been so successful, I don't rely on others to prepare my meals. Saves money and my health. Make time for you! So important.
You just put a whole new meaning into Drive-thru Great Job!

Thank you! I'm becoming more and more aware of the choices I am making for both me and my daughter. As I said earlier... it was done out of habit. My daughter is almost 16 and she is doing very well at making good decisions on her own and I know she is watching and learning from me too. It's a process and not easy for some to break overnight. Meal planning is not easy for me just yet. I work 2 jobs and walk in at night to helping with homework and getting a workout in... and by the time that's over, it's time for bed. I need to find some breakfast receipes that can be made the night before.. something besides hardboiled eggs... I hate those. Maybe some sort of casserole would be good.. that I could just cut a square out and either heat up or take with me to work to eat when I get there when I'm rushed.. which is pretty much every day. Any suggestions?

Quiches are awsome (you can make a quiche recipe in a muffin pan, then individually freeze/refrigerate them and nuke in the morning) any basic quiche recipe made with cream, then you can add any induction friendly ingredients: bacon, chicken, ground beef cheese, mushrooms, brocolli, peppers, onion ...use your imagination! Why not make 1 day your cooking day: ie sunday afternoon, and cook batches of foods.

also keep in mind you don't necessarily have to have breakfast foods, tuna or chicken salad can be made ahead, meatloaf, cook a couple of whole chickens or roast etc.

Also, adding an extra few mins to make an omlette really isn't much , it's probably about the same amount of time you spend at the drivethru? Just cut up all your ingredients ahead of time.

              Hello again,
I for one do understand that it takes time to make lifestyle changes. One day at a time hon, Keep moving forward. I have a daughter that is 14 and has seen me evolve into the woman that I am. She makes healthier choices because of it. Children certainly are a product of their environment.

Jen's right, that quiche is a great to go breakfast. I've been known to have dinner leftovers for breakfast too.
Here's to lifestyle changes and making healthier habits.
Wishing you the best of health and lite.
