& is HTML code for an ampersand (&). If it displays as code instead of a single character, it's because something erred either in your browser or on the forum. Just make a mental note that it means 'and'.

you are most likely looking at a bunch of posts that were made pre upgrade. the board has been through a couple of them and when an upgrade happens, certain things go weird. it's nothing to do with you computer, it has everything to do with old posts and upgrades.
