  • One month induction

Wow! I can't believe I have been on induction for a month today! I started in August shortly after seeing a picture of me that disgusted me to no end! Well I am happy to say that another picture (taken yesterday for a military id) has helped me to SEE the results! I look so much better in this new id card than I did in March when my other one was taken.
I was stoked when I came out of that building!

So I am thinking of moving on to OWL. BUT>............. I'm aftaid! At the moment I am only losing 2 lbs a week and I really, really, really don't want to lower that amount. I'm not missing my veggies and I just don't know if I can be creative enough with veggie recipes so that I don't burn out on the salad, salad, salad thing. Some days ( being a bad girl ) I only get in a cup of veggies if I'm lucky because I'm already burned out on lettuce so I just eat my cup of other allowed veggie! I think I will try Linda's recipe page and gather some tasty recipes for veggies. Oh and I can't find spaghetti squash. Is is out of season?

I'd really like to know if any of you stalled or had any "not so desirable" results when you moved on to OWL.

Thanks guys for all the advice you are always willing to give. I seem like the most needy person on the whole boards!

    God Bless!

    Re: One month induction

I found spaghetti squash in the grocery store yesterday. Actually I think this time of year it is still considered seasonal. I made it last night for the first time and it was very good.

I am also on extended induction. I think that I will continue for a few more weeks because like you I am very concerned about the weight loss slowing down too much.

This board has lots of creative recipes to try. I have been making quiches about once a week full of veggies. You can't seem to mess them up.

    Good luck!!

I'm with Chick; move on. I have made it to the nut/seed rung and it's been nice having the extra variety, not that I was bored with the induction foods; its just nice to have options-especially if you're eating away from home. When I moved to dairy I followed the book, ate it only 3 times the first week to see if I stalled gained. No problems. Same with the nuts...so far no problems. However, I did notice if I intake too much splenda I have a problem so I have limited myself to having surcralose items to once a week. Your body will tell you if something is not working and you can always drop back down a rung if you need to. I have found that nuts are a perfect food for me to take along when I know that I will be eating in an uncontrolled setting. My weight loss hasn't really slowed much at all either.

Wow Happy, you are really doing well with this WOE. How long have you been doing Atkins? I have already started to add a bit more veggies to my diet, as I wasn't getting enough from the beginning. But I still have only had one day of going over 20 carbs. I guess I'll have to get a bit more creative.

            Donna,
Yes, this WOE has been great for me. I truly love it and have found it really easy to stick to; compared to any other diets I tried in the past this has been the best one. Let's see; I've only been doing Atkins for 81 day....so a little over 2 months. I somtimes still don't go over 20 carbs a day, but I don't worry about it. I just assess if I have truly eaten until satisfied and if I've taken in a good variety of foods. I'm really starting to not be constrained by Fitday or other tracking tools; it really is about listening to what your body is calling for. It looks like you're making good progress yourself. Keep at it and I don't think you'll be disappointed with your hard work. We, as homeschoolers, know a thing or two about hard work, right? Take care and thanks for posting your journey in the blog.
