  • Woo Hoo, It really does work!

Hey everybody, I've not been active here for the past month or so. I joined the forum maybe 6 or 7 weeks ago if that, and started the diet the day i joined. I weighed 100 kilos (220lbs) and didnt really see any great results for the first week or so. I guess everytime I stepped on the scale I expected to see something really unrealistic and I was always dissapointed. Quite often the scales were going up - one morning I would get up, weigh myself and I would be maybe 97 kilos and the next day I would be 99 kilos again - I wasn't cheating - I was doing everything by the book. Well actually I lie - I was and still am eating too much cheese - but it works for me so I will carry on!

Anyway I have noticed a really big change in my size now - since starting less than 2 months ago I am currently weighing in at 88 Kilos or in american terms 193lbs. If that doesnt sound like much - believe me it really shows - all my jeans are too big for me!! I love it!! I am just under 6ft and built quite big naturally so I wasnt too far over my normal weight category in the first place and thought it might take quite a while to lose the weight.

I am now within my healthy weight range and all it took was cutting out sugar - because when you think about it - that's all you are doing - carbs = sugar & sugar = weight.

I love this diet because I can eat the foods I want, when I want them, I have tonnes of energy and am more energetic now than I have been since I was a kid. I find just little things help me so much - instead of going to the shop 500 yards up the road for smokes (I know filthy habit, but one thing at a time!), I walk to the one 2km away - It takes me 45 minutes to an hour to get there and back at a brisk walk and I get to listen to some music on my ipod while I'm walking - what more could you want!!

I probably do this 5 times a week. I also find that I walk everywhere now - the closest town to me is 5km away - so instead of jumping on the bus I walk - normally there and back - but sometimes just one way. The funny thing is though is that I actually want to do this. Friends and family offer me lifts everywhere but I always say "no thanks i'd rather walk".

We have just got a new addition to our family and he goes by the name of Zeus - he is a big soft Rottweiler who loves to walk - so that gives me an excuse to get out too which is great.

My average day of eating looks like this:

Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled with handful of spinach, one pork sausage

Lunch - Cup of brocollii stir fried with chicken and herbs (normally a good size portion of chicken to keep me going!!)

Dinner - Chicken Breast or Pork Chop or Steak with plate of spinach grilled with some cheese - plenty of seasoning. OR fried steak with sauce made with thickened cream.

If I want a snack it will either be a couple of slices of cheese or some slices of meat.

I found that I was drinking so much water when I first started and that was great , the only thing was is that I think I was drinking TOO MUCH!! I was probably drinking about 10 bottles a day - so that is 6 litres per day. I think it gave my body a good flush to kick start the diet - now I try to stick to 8 glasses a day - sometimes I go a bit under - sometimes a bit over. But this is something that after a bit of time becomes second nature to you - everytime i'm in the kitchen - I grab some water.

Although I've not been here for a while I just wanted to say that you guys are definitely the inspiration for my weight loss and thank you all for helping me out. I have been trying to get rid of this weight for so long and now it is just falling off!!

I hope that this gives some people a bit of motivation and believe me that if you don't see results on the scale straight away or you go through maybe 2 or 3 weeks without seeing any significant change don't fear - everything will click into place and it will come off if you just stick with it and don't cheat!

Ooops - I lied earlier on - I did cheat - I have had 2 beers since I have started this! pretty good though considering it was normally more like 4 a night and then a blow out at the weekend!! hmm that was prbably the problem in the first place! lol

    Even so thanks again guys

Way to go Ross and way to show some patience. Many people who start out give up too easily but you are really showing that persistence is a key. Stick to it and congratulations.

I don't often post, but I really want to take a second to thank Ross and all those who responded to this thread. Patience is key; and if not for this particular post at this particular juncture, I think I would have lost my motivation. Thanks for the crucial reminder, folks.
