Re: My oopsie on oopsie rolls

I used the original revolution roll recipe last night. I was going to eat a tuna sandwich today with them. However my 15 year old son found them and ate them! He save me one out of six! I went ahead and microwaved it for 20 seconds, put scrambled eggs on top, a tiny bit of (light sprinkle) of cheddar cheese and ate it that way.

Guess I will need to mix another batch and make him a batch also!

The oopsie recipe does use quite a lot of cream cheese, but the original revolution roll recipe uses only half that amount and still work out well.

If I want to cut my cheese consumption to be able to use it in another meal without over-cheesing I often substitute 3 tablespoons of mayo for the 3T of cream cheese in the rev roll recipe and they taste just as nice.
Is it 3T or 3 oz. The recipe I followed said 3 oz..Did I use too much?

Or does a Tb = and OZ.

One tablespoon of cream cheese = about 1/2 an ounce
Cleo made a mistake with the original rev roll recipe which uses 3 Tablespoons of cream cheese by using 3 ounces instead (which is about double), which is why she calls her recipe 'oopsie rolls'

Is that the only difference between the two recipes?

As for cream of tartar, believe it or not, I can't find it at supermarkets here in the Philippines. From what I've read, it should be a common baking item. I asked my mom who's a good cook and she doesn't know what it is. I'm guessing it might go by a different name here (maybe a local one), and it really is a very common item.

As far as I know that is the difference, Robbie.

Someone posted somewhere that they omitted the cream of tartar and their egg whites still whipped up stiff enough to make rev rolls.

BTW cream of tartar is also called potassium bitartrate or potassium acid tartrate.

                Hi,

Cream of tartar is an acid. You can substitute either lemon juice or vinegar instead of the cream of tartar. Use 1/4 tsp of acid for every two egg whites. The cream of tartar does not leave any flavour but the other acids do. I like lemon juice because it adds a nice flavour to the rolls.

If you do not want to use lemon juice of vinegar, you can get the same result with egg whites by whipping them in a copper bowl.

                I hope this helps.

                Val
