  • I need to know!

I just realized, after finishing up my grape tomatoes, that they're probably not allowed on the induction phase...greatBut what's done is done.

Here's what I NEED to know.....how many carbs are in one single lonely little delicious grape tomato? I keep finding different numbers online..someone tell me! Please

Did you try fitday.com? Their food tracker thing is excellent!

Today I was making garlic mashed potatoes for my hubby and I licked the spoon before I put it in the sink. I almost closed my mouth when I realized what I did and spit it out.

He doesnt specify which tomatoes are allowed in the book, atleast i dont think he does. I ate grape tomatoes during induction, they are yummy as a bacon and tomato egg scramble. I dont know how many carbs they have, i would check fitday. But as long as you didnt eat more than 10 i am sure you are fine.

According to fitday.com one cherry tomato has 0.65 net carbs. You cna find them by choosing 'Tomatoes, raw' then choosing either one cup of cherry toms or an individual cherry tom and choosing how ever many you ate as the quantity.

In UK supermarkets they list the nutrition info for the particular tomatoes they are selling (for the packaged ones), so their info would be more accurate than fitday's generic entry, so if you have that info from the package you can make a custom entry for them.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          Thanks for your responses.

.65 net carbs?! That's a lot, but I can't afford to eat almost one carb on a single delicious tomatoe...it'll have to be a luxury food for me.

I wanted coke last night, and then I remembered I'm on Atkins.

Collins gem carb counter is fabulous!! Recommend it for UK people.. also TESCO labelling says the incorrect count for carbs, it counts sugars not net carbs. So check the back also. Bit misleading!

It says 6 cherry tomatoes 5.2g carb. After reading this my boyfriend got the grape tomatoes to take home! Keeping well clear!

              Re: I need to know!

Remember we are supposed to get 'most' of our net carbs on induction from our veggies, so 'spending' maybe 5 or 6 of them on some yummy tomatoes is not neccessarily a bad thing if your other veggies are lettuce with maybe only a couple of carbs.

                Re: I need to know!

Grape tomatoes are smaller than cherry tomatoes but they are my favorite tomato and I have eaten them since the very first day of induction. 3 oz (about 12 grape tomatoes) is 6 carbs according to this link.

Thank you for the clarification, Lacey

We don't seem to have anything called 'grape tomatoes' over here, also our cherry tomatoes vary in size from 4-5 to one ounce to 2 to an ounce. I always weigh mine so as to have a better idea of how much I am eating.

Here is one I would think is pretty accurate. It gives a gram weight for a single grape tomato. Nutrition ifno.
