Okay, so I'm now gaining weight and inches! I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am eating no more than 20 net carbs per day...I'm eating between 12-15 net carbs in veggies. I'm drinking around 100 ounces or more a day and I'm moving as much as I can. What gives?

Okay, so I just went to my fit day account...and I'll admit that I don't do fit day everyday, but I do write down what I eat everyday in my food journal. So according to fitday my fat range is typically between 67% and 69% and I had one day where it was as low as 54%. My protein is typically between 28% and 29% and one day it was at 43%. And my carb always is at 3%.

Ok so correct me if I am wrong but this is only your 3rd week on Atkins? The first weeks are an adjustment period for your body so those fluctuations arent abnormal at all. I totally stalled in weeks 3-5 and then lost big after that. I personally had major water weight fluctuations in those first weeks. That can cause not only pounds gained but inches as well. It always gets worse around that time of the month so that may be a factor for you as well. Stick with it, you are doing fabulous and you will reap the rewards, thats a promise Your fitday looks ok to me... I do best at around 70% fat, 25-27% protein and 3-5% carbs

I would post your daily food in the review my menu forum. Also monthy water retention could be a factor

Well I'm glad to know that there are people that have my issues, lol. I guess I was just expecting a bit more weight loss at first. I've started to post blogs with things that I eat, and I'll also start posting in the review my menu forum too. Thank you ladies for your replys. =)

When you plug your food into FitDay - what is the total daily calories ranging in?

OMG. You've lost 17lbs in the past month!!

While I'm used to stalling, if it's not around TOM (as said), I'd really go with posting menus, or a link to your Fitday... I know all of this was said. I'm just umm, repeating it.

Repeating is fine sweets....How do I post my fit day? And the calories are jumping everywhere from 1725 to 3066...later today or tomorrow I am going to enter in the correct info for the pepperoni that I eat, because what Fitday and the package says aren't the same....same thing with my cheeses.

Also the first 10 pounds I lost wasn't on atkins...it was on a cleans (sp) diet. I pretty much just cleaned out my inerds, lol.

I guess I really should be complaining, I just so badly want it to drop off now! lol. I'll start posting here what I eat, or if I can post my fitday things that would be awesome.

Thanks again all....keep up the advice, I love it. when ever I get something new it just helps with my hope and makes me feel not so much like a loser =( for not being a loser (weight) lol.

Well, my personal opinion is that your problem is with your daily calories. In order to lose weight you need to track your foods everyday so you know where you are at calorie wise. To successfully lose it's between 10-12 multiplied by your body weight. If nothing moves at 12 x, then drop it to 11, then again to 10. Unless you have an underlying medical condition or are taking medication, you should see the pounds coming off with this formula. Keep your fats higher to help keep you full longer.

I hate to burst your bubble but those 10 pounds on the cleanse were water weight, not fat. Stay away from those, they just mess you up and mess up your metabolism depending how long you are on them.

                    Re: This is very sad

No bubble bursting done, lol...I know it was water weight. I've dieted enough to know that is always the first, lol. So if I weight 306 pounds and multiply it by 10 I really want to eat 3060 calories per day? Or even up to 3672 calories? Wowzers! I thought the calories should stay closer to the 1800 range but never lower than 1500.

I don't take any meds yet, but I do have a scrpit for hydrocodone (sp) however, I don't take them for my knee unless I have to have too....

You can post a link to your fitday account for people to click on and see the list of foods as you have logged it.

To do this you need to log on to your fitday account and click on the 'Profile' tab. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the link called something like 'Make my journal public' (I am not sure of the exact wording as on my account it only shows the button to remove my public journal)
Then you will be shown a url that you can copy and paste into your post here to allow us to see your entries.

By posting that link here you will let us see your previous days entries as well as today's, plus two piecharts showing your calories eaten and used plus your weightgraph, so we will not be able to see anything more private that you might have logged.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                        Re: This is very sad

ummm.. I'm pretty sure I didn't eat anything close to 3000 calories when I weighed 300... In fact, I believe I was tracking it about that time - 270 and would eat about the 1500-2000.

I've used the Harris Benedict equation before to try and figure out what I should be eating though because once ketosis set in, along with exercising 2 hours a day or so, I was only eating about 1200 calories and that wasn't working for me.

If you want a link to that, you can go here: Harris Benedict Equation. I think a BMR calculating website is easy to find. I think I then subtracted something between 500 and 800 calories from what it said I needed to *maintain* my weight.

I don't know if it'll work for you or not. I started about where you are (I think I might have been 24, 5'10", and 312lbs) and would try for a minimum of 1600 and a maximum of 2500.. I was doing cardio and weights 5 days a week though...

                          Re: This is very sad

Find a BMR calculator and then strive to eat at or slightly above that number. Mine was 2150 or so when I started and is around 1950 now.

Using your stats it comes out to about 2300 per day. It takes that many calories just to run your body so I would eat at least that many and maybe as much as 2500 or so. You do have to adjust your calories as you lose weight but you are still in the first month and eating too little really can stall you because your body feels like it is starving and has to hold onto everything. Something to think about

                            Re: This is very sad

1500 isn't always a drop even if you weigh 300lbs. The Harris Benedict equation takes BMR plus the amount of activity in your life and gives you the calories you need to maintain your weight, hence the subtraction.

Aside from all this lovely math though, is (I believe) focusing on the fact that we're to be eating only until *satisfied*, not stuffed, not starving. Your body usually knows when it's had enough if you take the time to listen to it. Some days are more than others... if you pay attention to tracking how you *feel* you shouldn't actually need to be calculating out and (the worst part) tracking calories all the time.

I think so many of us get caught up in trying to see results faster that we need everything to match very specific percentages, or calorie requirements, or various other things. In this stage, Dr. Atkins *DID* say "Don't count calories", did he not? If we're trusting him with the proper way to lose weight, why are we not trusting him that he knew what he was talking about with that as well?

Well if you go down to 1500 calories and have been doing that long enough, you will lose weight at a snails pace because you are going to send your body into starvation mode. The biggest factor in weight loss is genetics, then diet, then exercise.

Some folks can drop calories oober low and they will lose the weight, others, not so much.

                              Just my 2 cents...
