  • Second Week of induction re-start

I was wondering if on your second week of induction it is normal to only loose 1lb. Last week I lost eight, and that was sooo great. So, needless to say I was a little disappointed this morning when I stepped on the scale. Am I being to hard on myself?

When I started adkins 4 weeks ago, the first 2 I was doing it wrong, now that I am on track and have had some success I am stumped as to why I would stop. I weigh myself at the same time every week right away in the morning.

My typical meal includes the following:
    Tons of water
2 servings of splenda (not everyday)
    Seltzer water in the PM

For breakfast I eat 2 hardboiled eggs because of the conviencence factor.

For a snack before lunch I eat 10 radishes.

For lunch I usually have ckn or ground meat with butter on it.

For dinner some sort of meat

Later i hae 1 c of spinach leaves
    10 radishes or 1 c of cucumbers
2 TBS of blue cheese dressing.

That is a typical day. If I am extra hungry I may eat another egg.

I am pretty sure I am doing it right, and I understand it can be a slow process but wanted some of your opinions.

Re: Second Week of induction re-start

Boy do I understand the frustration of the little loss. I was on atkins the first time last year and lost alot on induction. I stopped being a good girl after a few months and then it took me until now to get back on. This time on induction I've only lost one pound that I know of. Will weigh in again tomorrow though.

My little amount is due more to the fact that I had food poisoning and didn't get to eat much at the beginning of my induction which made my body go into starvation mode and want to save everything instead of letting it go.

Yours could simply be a stall or your body trying to catch up.

I do feel for ya though. Mega frustration when that scale doesn't move.

who do this the right way.

(This is just my first goal. I got lots more to lose.)

Re: Second Week of induction re-start

Izza - can you remind us whether you lost any weight during the first 2 weeks you did Atkins, before you changed things?
Also how much weight in total you are hoping to lose and what your goal weight/height is.

As for your menu choices, the foods all look induction-friendly, though it seems as if you are eating at least some of your veg on their own without any fat. Dr Atkins advised us always to have some fat with the carbs we do eat to alleviate any possible blood sugar spikes.

It may be that this is not a problem though, as we never lose weight in a 'linear' fashion, but often lose one week but not the next, no matter what we eat. So your body might just be taking a break while it works out what you are up to!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Second Week of induction re-start

No, during my first two week period on adkins I did not see any weight loss.

I am 5ft 6 and weighed 233 beginning and now am at 223. I would like to loose 80 pounds.

I will try in the evenings to make something with more fat in it for the carb foods. Would adding butter to broccoli sufice? Also, how do you all meausure out your veggies before cooking them? Do you just place them in a 1c measuring utenisl?

Losing 10 pounds out of a hoped for 80 is about a 12.5% loss which is a good rate of losing

The fact that you lost most of that poundage in the first week is fairly normal, so you are probably doing nothing 'wrong'

Have you read the thread in the 14-day induction forum about adding fat? It might help you work out the simplest way to do it if needed.

Re: Second Week of induction re-start

This is my 2nd attempt at Atkins (lost 53 pounds in 2003) and I haven't lost any weight this week (my second week of induction). It's very frustrating!

Welcome to our ADBB family, Dock
How much weight are you hoping to lose? An 'average' loss over the whole two weeks is said to be between 5% and 10% of the total hoped-for loss.

Also not all of us lose consistently even in the first 14 days on induction. We even have had members who lost absolutely nothing on induction but followed the 4 phases of Atkins and got to their goal weight over time.
