  • Not a significant source of protein?

    HELLO! FIRST POST!!!!!

I am trying to figure out what this means? I read a few posts in the "search" but.......just dont get it!

I am eating pork rinds now...and the nutrition label says "NOT a significant source of protein" but has 9 grams per serving??

Do I count this protein toward my daily total? I am eating the entire bag..crunch crunch....that would make 27 grams of protein total! Can I count it???

    Thanks!!

I have to admit that I've always wondered what the deal was with that clause as well. Of course, I have no reason on Atkins to count protein grams so I don't worry about it. I suppose if you are tracking numbers for percentage purposes, I would include the 9 grams per serving.

On a side note, I find that pork rind over indulgence can stall me. I assume it is the sodium content...

Hello and yes--I think the sodium would move me backwards...but needed a crunchy treat today! Only day two of diet and still "reading book". I guess I am counting grams of protein because NOT on the diet-I may get 20 a day if lucky ....and I mean lucky. I am a carb nut. So...I want to be sure I am eating enough protein-but guess I am now with the new "diet"......
I am still trying to figure things out with the diet since I have not finished the book!

      THANK YOU for your time!

Great screen name! Yeah, anything salty will turn you into a sponge, soaking up water weight... but you knew that As your body adjusts, you'll find the cravings will decrease ... hang in there! Then you can indulge in your crunchy passion and not feel compelled to scarf down the whole bag (and, hon, I know from whence you speak!) ... welcome to Atkins!
