  • Apple season

Well its apple season. Apple season is my favorite time of year. I usually eat 3-4 apples a day during this time of year, usually for about 1-2 months and then I'm sick of apples the rest of the year. This year I am having the hardest time resisting the apples! I'm on extended induction so I don't think I can have any.... I almost ate 1/4 of an apple today becasue it weighted out to 6 grams carbs... but I think if I would have eaten that delicious juicy sweet and crunchy orb of goodness I would have eaten 2-3 more apples. I guess i have a new goal- to be on lifetime maintenance by this time next year or at least pre-maintenance so I can have some apples!

I do miss apples. That is a good goal, mind if I share? I wanna be able to crunch me some! Good job sticking to your low carb guns!

(For a while I was eating an apple every day and felt very good while doing it. Too bad I switched over to donut holes every day instead.....)

The hardest part for me on this diet is not eating the fruit. I was a big tim fruit eater before atkins. Peaches for two months duiring peach season, then watermelon and plums and apricots. I usually ate about 10 servings of fruit a day. The only bad thing was is that I supplemented all that fruit with cake and cookies and homemae ice cream made with fresh cream... YUMMY!!!!! We live in an agricultural area in california and the fruit here is just divine! But the veggies are also great too. there is nothing better than walking over to the neighbors to pick fresh avacado from their tree.

Another good reason for climbing the OWL carbohydrate ladder instead of extending your induction for months and months is to be able to eat an occasional fruit without feeling guilty!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Exactly! Maybe you should move on from extended induction. apples are part of the 'other fruits' rung...

I agree with Elizellen and Sadie....why hang around, torturing yourself on "extended Induction" when you can be eating those fruits on OWL?
