  • walking vs. stair climber

Does anyone know which one is better for decreasing my butt handles? I have been wlking 2.5 miles 5 days /week in 45 minutes. I have not started any weight training. should I alternate the walking with the stairclimber or just stick with the walking? I have been increasing the incline of the treadmill everyother time I work out. thanks

    Re: walking vs. stair climber

In Atkins for Life, steppers are described as challenging and effective, but also to be approached with care. They can 'aggravate knee problems' and are 'easy to misuse.' Walking would not have such risks. So depending on the shape your knees are in.. stairs would likely have more effect on the muscles, it would be the harder workout. I watch them use stair machines at the gym and they really sweat...

I guess I'll try them out and see if it bothers my bum knee (which really does feel better after having lost so much weight ...) if it does then I'll stick to walking. I did notice them really sweat it out on those machines.

Stair climbing is great for the butt. Squats are the best and lunges work very well too.

When I was doing the squat challenge on here, I could see a big difference in the month. I lost 3 inches off my thighs. I hate them but they do work. I did 50 every evening.

Just to mention, elliptial trainers can be set to target your glutes. Look for the 'crossramp' adjustment, on the ones at my gym, they show where they are targeting based on the incline, and you can adjust them. Also, increasing resistance will help burn the buns too.
