  • If I could eat whatever I wanted...

    I would have..

    1. A bowl of cereal with icy cold milk, maybe some fruit loops or honey bunches of oats!

    2. A graham cracker with cinnammon, and dunk it into a glass of icy cold milk!

3.Some Cheetos and a diet soda!

    4. A thin crust slice of pizza with tons of veggies!

    5. Chocolate!

    6. A sugar free vanilla latte from Starbucks!

    7. A subway sandwich, with the bread and a bag of baked lays!

    8. Ranch style beans with melted cheese on top!

    9. A pancake with syrup!

These are the foods that I have seen or thought of, and have wanted badly- but have resisted the temptation because of my progress on the diet. Yesterday, I actually wore a pair of jeans I hadn't worn since before I had my first baby about 2 years ago.

I like the feeling, and so I'll continue to only day dream about eating these foods that I miss so much.

thank-you very not much for making a #@!&*%$$#! LIST of things I avoid thinking of. I must say though, that your list is conservative. Thin crust pizza, and one slice at that, ONE pancake, ONE bowl of cereal. Congrats. Even if you went off-plan, I think you would maintain.

Allow me to add **a grilled cheese sandwich** to the list.

Most the time i don't miss these things, but the past couple days I've been cravey. As it's cooling off, i think I associate snuggly indoorsy sweatery times with certain carby comfort foods. Holidays are gonna be a *itch.

I'm not too much of a chips & ice cream girl, but if I could eat whatever I wanted I would go for...

      1. Cheesecake (I can make an Atkins-legal one)
      2. Strawberries with whipped cream (~3 weeks left until I can have some)
      3. Yoghurt with blueberries (~3 weeks left)

Many of the foods you listed are quite possible to eat during ON-Going Weight Loss Phase and Pre-Maintenance Phase---and during Maintenance Phase.

So if you haven't moved to OWL Phase, you might want to consider it to expand your food choices while you continue to lose weight.

You can make cereals using pork rinds and splenda (it's not as weird as it sounds). And once you're on rung 2 you can have milk.

          2. A graham cracker with cinnammon, and dunk it into a glass of icy cold milk!
Same for the milk. The flax crackers with cinnamon are delicious... crunchy and fatty enough to keep cravings away.

3.Some Cheetos and a diet soda!
You can have soda sweetened with splenda. Cheetos? I don't know what those are, sorry.

          4. A thin crust slice of pizza with tons of veggies!
I did an awesome pizza this summer using flax for the crust and mushrooms, pepper, chicken breast, cheese and tomato for topping. It was yummy!

          5. Chocolate!
You can make your own using cocoa and liquid stevia or splenda.

          6. A sugar free vanilla latte from Starbucks!
You can make your own once you get to rung 2. Does it really have to be Starbucks?

          7. A subway sandwich, with the bread and a bag of baked lays!
I have no idea what lays are... But you can make great sandwiches or wraps using flax. I take wraps with me every time I travel.

          8. Ranch style beans with melted cheese on top!
This has to wait for a bit... But you'll be able to have it in the end.

          9. A pancake with syrup!
Ever tried flax or/and cream cheese pancakes? Topped with SF syrup and berries.... Great dessert!

I like the feeling, and so I'll continue to only day dream about eating these foods that I miss so much.
Who said you can only dream about eating them?

          Bon appetit!

For the grilled cheese one - mix some ground flaxseed with water to a paste, spread it onto a paper plate and microwave until it's cooked, it'll basically function like a piece of bread, you can melt the cheese on it and pick it up to eat as a sandwich. It involves a little experimenting with cooking times, but is a really great substitute.

                  I have some suggestions too

3.Some Cheetos and a diet soda!
How about some microwave melted cheddar.
Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes
It is really yammy and some carbonated water with a wedge of lemon. I just love it

4 A thin crust slice of pizza with tons of veggies!
Have you tried Cleocathra's cauliflower pizza. It is really good. And you will not miss anything eating it. Promise

                  9. A pancake with syrup!
How about an oopsie roll with some Davinci syrup? You can have it.

                  5. Chocolate!
Once you are in the nut rung you can have some - just not with sugar. I sometimes make chocolate bark (cocoa, splenda, cocunut oil (melted) - mix and freeze for 5 minutes)

Apples Apples and more apples! I am an apple freak! And I also miss eating strawberries and peaches and hot oatmeal for breakfast with fresh peaches cut up into it. I wasn't a horrible junk food eater before atkins, but I did eat a ton of carbs... even if they were "good"ones. I do miss crunchy foods. One can only eat so many pork rinds before they become quite disagreeable... I do it celery for the crunch but even with blue cheese dressing its not quite the same. I will try the grilled cheese as mentioned above though.. thank goodness I can eat all the flax I want during my extended induction-it doesn't seem to be slowing me down at all. I'm quite happy with 2-3 pounds per week gone.

And someday - a small, hot bowl of freshly fried rice from the Japanese steak house!

                          Wow!
Thank you all so much for such neat ideas on how I can make variations on these foods! Also, I never thought I would never be able to eat these again, but when I read Megs post, I learned that later on, I could probably have some of these things in moderation! I am so excited about trying out these new dishes- now I just have to do find flax seed- I don't even know what that is or where I can get it. Any tips?

                          Again,

                          Thanks for the ideas!!!!

                            Hi,

Here is a low carb version or Japanese Rice:

                            • 1/2 head cauliflower, shredded
                            • 2 eggs
                            • 1/3 cup diced ham/pork
                            • 1 cup (75 g) snow pea pods, fresh
                            • 2 tablespoons (30 g) butter
                            • 1/2 cup (80 g) diced onion
                            • 2 cloves garlic, minced
                            • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) soy sauce
                            • Salt and pepper

                            • Put the shredded cauliflower in a microwaveable casserole with a lid, add a couple of tablespoons of water, cover, and microwave on high for 6 minutes.
                            • While that's happening, scramble the eggs and pour them into a skillet you’ve sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, over medium-high heat. As you cook the eggs, use your spatula to break them up into pea-sized bits. Remove from skillet and set aside.
                            • Remove the tips and strings from the snow peas, and snip into 1/4-inch (6.25 mm) lengths. (By now the microwave has beeped—take the lid off your cauliflower or it will turn into a mush that bears not the slightest resemblance to rice!) Melt the butter in the skillet, and sauté the pea pods, onion, garlic and meat for 2 to 3 minutes.
                            • Add the cauliflower, and stir everything together well. Stir in the soy sauce, and cook the whole thing, stirring often, for another 5 to 6 minutes. Salt and pepper a bit, and serve.
