  • Foods I Just Can't Do!

    Here's my list:

Bell peppers of all kinds - they taste bitter and almost painful to me. I can't even stand it in a salad (or picking around them) - those things contaminate the flavor of everything they touch. Down here in the South, they put peppers in a LOT of things - I've even seen it in Chinese food.

Eggs. I've tried them in every variant, and I've tried them with a fox in a box, and I've tried them in a boat with a goat, and I do not like them, Sam I Am. (I'll take the ham, though).

Avacado. Another one I try and try to like. I wanna, but I don't.

Squash and zuccini. Man, I should like these, I really should. Don't.

Canned Tuna. I'm not a big fish person in general anyways, but canned tuna just grosses me out. My DH loves it, and only has it when I'll be gone for a few days. I can't even stand the smell in the air at my house!

These are the big ones - I'm still trying to discover things I like/don't like as I expand my gastronomic universe (somethng has to replace Doritos and Cheez-its ).

    What about you?

I'm right there with you, I don't like anythig you listed BESIDES EGGS. I can eat eggs almost anyway you cook them, well as long as the yolk is cooked.

I am not big on vegetabes.
I like green beans, lima beans, brocolli, cabbage,

I don't like peppers, onion, mushrooms, zuccini, squash, egg plant, celery, brussel sprouts... I could go on and on...

Eggplant - ooh, that's another nasty one - forgot it because it's been so long since I actually had to decide whether or not to eat any!

You mention brussel sprouts - hmm, should try some, see if I like 'em or not. Hadn't considered it.

I tried brussel sprouts out at a really nice restaurant the other night and was holfing back, either crying or throwing up as I tried to chew one. Other people at the table were asking me if I was okay. I had to spit it out. Kind of embarrassing...lol. Good luck trying them.

            Umm, I think there's no veggie I don't like.

What is somehow legal but I REALLY don't like are the Atkins bars. I dislike the fact that they so... sticky and sand-like in the same time... and the taste reminds of the cheap chewing gum my parents were buying in Romania before '89.

Isn't it great that on Atkins the food choices are so varied that you don't have to eat eggs, peppers, zucchini, avocados, or tuna fish if you don't want to?

Occasionally, I read these diets in magazines that have menus and recipes all printed out for 30 days of dieting. And I can't help but wonder "what if you don't like bananas or what if you're allergic to shrimp?"

One of the reasons why I liked Atkins is that I saw the Acceptable Foods List and knew there was enough variety on it that I could make many meals from them. And another selling point was that I knew on the other Phases, I would be allowed to include other foods that would bump up my meal variety even more.

Yes, it certainly is - I chose Atkins not only because it's effective but because it was the easiest for me to adopt as a lifestyle. So many things I love!

I haven't had any of the Atkins bars and such - and I don't plan to, given the horrifically bad reviews here!

I know it's heresy to say so, as a fellow Southerner, but I loathe okra ... well, it's not too bad breaded and fried, but that's out now anyway! It's just so slimey ... I feel like I'm eating slugs or something

Gee, I like liver ... chicken livers, anyway. Breaded and fried! Goodbye, chicken livers ... let's face it, if it ain't breaded and fried, it ain't Southern (unless it's cooked to within an inch of its life with fatback, of course) ... heh. I surely do miss grits and biscuits, though

As for the Atkins Frankenfoods .... pleh. Gak! "Sweet Sexy Science," my butt!

Oh I wish I could eat tuna! Everything that goes into different tuna salads and tuna sandwiches sound so good! then when I take a bite all I can taste is the tuna. Blegghhh. I only survived every friday in catholic school by trading my tuna fish to other students for the milk and apple...
