2 week stall (coming up on 3) - should I start OWL?

  • 2 week stall (coming up on 3) - should I start OWL?

    I'm in the midst of a 2, soon to be 3-week stall. I'm doing extended induction and wonder if moving up the OWL ladder will kick-start the weightloss again. I admit I'm terrified of moving to OWL then finding I start gaining instead of losing. I already eat a bunch of veggies - the allotted amounts for induction, so adding more won't be too hard. I was wondering if I could make my own salsa (tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeno,)? I LOVE salsa and could easily add it to my eggs, top my meatloaf with it or some hamburger patties. Is that an acceptable way to add extra veggies?

    You're not in a stall. Dr. Atkins defined a weight loss plateau as 4 consecutive weeks without the loss of pounds or inches. So have you lost inches? If you have, then you definitely aren't in a stall and I wouldn't worry too much about what the scale says.

    How much veggies are you eating now? According to the book, the amount of veggies you eat on Induction is 3 cups of the allowed veggies. If you are eating more than that, then you have been doing OWL Rung 1.

      Yes salsa is a great way to add extra veges.

        Hi Neecy,
        Pretty common to see a small "stall" around week 2-3 so it is not a sign of anything. I would certainly try more veggies. They are very healthy and are not going to make you gain. People do not get fat from eating more veggies.
        I love Salsa too. I use a store bought one (no added sugar) but I find I have to be a bit careful with quantity. A lot make me have a bit of a sugar buzz - I am guessing the sugars in the concentrated tomato is the cause - so I watch it. However, you may be completely different. I would give it a try. It sounds delicious.
