  • I think I am ready to move on

    to the next part of atkins

    I have been on induction for 11 weeks and have lost 34 lbs so far. I still have another 35-40 to lose. I think I am starting to get bored with induction foods though and my weightloss for the past 2 weeks has slowed down to 1 lb lost per week.

    I am really not sure of what the next step is or what foods to add in first. I need to pull out my book and find some time to read tomarrow. Any ideas or advice would be great!!

    1st Goal-199 lbs. made it 9/10/08
    2nd Goal-175 lbs.

    I think it's a good time for you to move on.

    In the book Atkins says if you have 30-40 pounds to lose and are willing to exchange a little slower weight loss for more food choices then it's a good time for you to move on to OWL.

    Best thing to do is read the chapter about OWL...I read it last night because I plan on moving onto this phase after my 2nd week of induction.

      After reading through the book last night I decided that since I still have almost 40lbs to go that I will stay on induction for a little longer I just need to be strict about it and recording and counting my carbs again!! I'm not ready for my weightloss to slow down yet

        That's cool! It's good that you went to the book, I think Atkins explains it well about when the right time is to move on! Good luck!

          But if you are already feeling bored with the foods and find your losses slowing down I would suggest that moving to OWL is more sensible than staying on induction and maybe falling off from boredom!

          The second phase of Atkins is called ongoing weight loss for a reason - you will continue to lose weight as you discover your CCLL and if any foods affect you badly while you expand your food choices!

          I wish Dr Atkins hadnt included the bit about weightloss slowing down on OWL, as from what many people have posted here, often if your losses have slowed on an extended induction to about a pound a week it will speed up once you move to OWL and add 5 net carbs more of the induciton veggies, which is rung one of OWL!

          Take a trip to our OWL forum and look at how some people found they started losing again once they moved on.

          F/60 yrs/5ft 5.5" (Though due to collapsing vertebrae I am now only 5'3" - but I refuse to recalculate my BMI )
