  • On The Go Quick Easy meals

    Hi All,

I am going to start the Atkins diet 2moro. I have been looking around and I am so unorganised and dont have any time at all to prepare or arrange meals.
Can you sugest some "open and go" foods for breakfast.

Are the salads from the salad bar at the local super market ok to use? When you take the potato and pasta from a salad it doesnt really leave any thing interesting.

I feel very confused with the whole thing.

All I know is I can eat eggs any type of egg and english fry up with out the bread.

I need quick ideas forsome one on the run and with no orgainisational skills
I am starting my diet tomorrow 22.10.2008. I need to get my weight,
Messurements and Pictures done tonight. I am about 11.2 Stone 5"2.
My Target is 8.5 Stone / size 10

In my experience, it was worth it to plan what your going to eat a little more. The times I tried to do Atkins the "Express" way ended up with me quitting because I got really tired of the same instant foods. There are a lot of ways to cut time. Make things for dinners on Sundays and then freeze for the week. Make hard boiled eggs ahead of time and grab one as your headed out the door in the morning. I also love a cheese stick in the afternoon for a good snack or green pepper slices cold. Just make sure you follow the book to the tee when doing Induction. It makes all the difference in the world to your weight loss. Good luck on your journey!

I have to agree. When I don't plan things, I end up starving because it's too much effort to figure out what to do. If you don't have time in the morning, try microwaving a couple slices of bacon while frying eggs... it takes about 5 minutes for both to be done... and the bacon can go with you (eggs are a little harder).

If I go to a salad bar, I usually eat the spinach with some grilled chicken, olives, cucumbers, cheese, and some form of vinagrette. The dressing may not be the safest, but it depends where you are and if they have just plain oil and vinegar.

I actually do my cooking for the week on one day, and then split it up into separate meals. A couple weeks ago I ran across divided containers, so now I can have a meat and veggie in the same container, which makes my life that much easier. Now I come in, take it out of the fridge and microwave for 2-3 minutes and eat. If you want some quick recipes that are good, just let me know.

I prepare things at night so it's ready for me the next day if I need to grab a quick bite. For instance Deviled eggs or celery with cream cheese and smoked salmon...it really helps to just be able to open the fridge and GO.

I always sit down on a Sunday and plan my weekly meals - they get organised each night for the next day. It is the safest way!

There are lots of on the go food you can eat - but you do have to be organised!

          Good luck!

Boiled eggs, deli meat (some people have trouble with deli meats so use caution), precut veggie party platters, bbq'd chicken wings, same with drumsticks, and a big tub of tuna/egg/or chicken salad can help get you through the week. I will often grab the scoop of chicken salad and a handfull of the party platter veggies for my lunch at work. For breakfast a lot these days I am having a low carb/low cal protein shake and a slice of cheese (no shakes on Induction, but later) or slice of salami.

Have a plan or plan to fail!!

I always have a crisper drawer full of precut vegies. Hard boiled eggs are a must. Tuna salad or chicken salad and grilled chicken breasts I even make a large omlette during the week and cut into fourths.........instant breakfast. Pepperoni chips for a quick snack. Your only limited by your imagination! oh and CHEESE! I always have string cheese.

crustless Quiche is an easy breakfast..If you make one before hand it can be your breakfast for several days. And there are a million different variations, sausage, bacon, peppers, cheese, brocolli, etc etc.

You can also bake it in muffin cups and make small individual ones.
