OH MY GOODNESS!!! You just killed me softly with your song, told me whole life with your words.. etc..

Absolutely!!! In fact, I just re-started 3 days ago myself. This is the first time in the past 6 times I've tried to re-start that I've made it past the 24 hour mark. And I almost lost it at lunch time this round to a guacamole bacon burger from Carl's Jr. Luckily, I walked past a full size window and saw my reflection.

You just have to out-weigh <no pun intended> your goals/desires to your wants/wishes. I kept in mind every time I cheated on the first day, how did I feel on the day that was supposed to be day two? The answer is that I was MISERABLE!!! This time, I talked my carb-monster down into letting me see what day 2 was like, and I dont feel miserable this time around!! I feel so much better, and my pants are already much looser.

Also, after every donut, or pb & J sandwich, or medium pizza, etc.. how did it make me feel? Did it fill my emotional void? Did it bring me closer to getting back into my own pants? I always wanted "just one more of this before I cant have it anymore... " I can't tell you how many of those I've had. And its embarassing. The sooner I bite the bullet, the sooner I'm in a bikini that doesnt make me look like the poster child for the pillsbury dough girl. And I'm comfortable with that now. The only thing is getting your psyche to switch. For me, a food addict, it almost turns into a split - personality battle. But I'm glad I won this time.

Sorry for the lengthiness.. I just felt a connection.

I just had to lol because that song has been stuck in my head all day and then I see you write that in your post.

I've been there Meli...I've probably restarted atkins more than 10 times. This is actually the 1st time I've gotten on it and stuck with it for more than 3 or 4 days in the past 4 years...I'm finally back on the wagon.

It's just a decision you have to make and be set in it...be strict and think of all the reasons why you want to lose weight. Sticking with it gives a lot more satisfaction then 1 little (or big) cheat. It's empowering to know you fought your urge to cheat and get through until the end of the day knowing you didn't let yourself down..again...

It's not just a WOE, WOL...it's a committment to yourself.

Re: how many times have you fallen

don't be scared to weigh yourself....but wait for a while. that is just my unsolicited advice. how many times have i fallen down? 0. how many times have i been tempted or struggled....a bazillion!!!

this board has kept me true. i am no saint and i am not perfect. i admit that at the beginning, getting into atkins was tough. but i was SO SICK of being 220 pounds. i KNEW the program works. i could not STAND myself. i had no one but me to rely on to lose the weight. so......i could not fail.

everyone is different. if you fall, then the success comes by getting right back up into the saddle and moving along.

if you find that you are "failing" at the end of the day, take a close look at what is going on that makes that time of day tough for you. are you making dinner and feeling hungry? are you feeling deprived? is it for the social experience? the trick is PLANNING. be sure to have some things that you like to eat and are LEGAL around at all times. then you will never be deprived "socially" or otherwise. linda's website has so many yummy induction options. i never felt deprived or cheated.

and....i do NOT like to cook but all her yummy recipes gave me reason to experiment.

be tough. you CAN do this. the board offers tons of support. when you feel like cheating come here and post. read. set your goals. how bad do you want this? you can do it. keep yourself focused, you are worth the effort!

Re: how many times have you fallen

It took me 2 weeks of trying b4 I really committed to it again, and it took me getting on the scale t do it...like you I was scared to see that number, but ultimately thats what made me do it...seeing that I had gained almost 20 lbs since falling off made me realize that if I didnt get back to this woe that number would only go up n up...I started back right then. That was Oct 14th, and I have since dropped 16 lbs...so my advice is to get on the scale, and hopefully it will give you the inspiration you need! Night time is the hardest for me as well, but like misplaced southerner said make sure you have yummy legal stuff to snack on so you never feel tempted or deprived!

Best of luck to you...you can do it if you really want to, make that decision, and stick to it!

Re: how many times have you fallen

I agree with what everyone has said,i personally found it extremely hard to do the atkins and stick with it because i was the biggest carb eater! But i also looked at myself in the mirror and i did'nt want to keep being that fat person i seen looking back at me,you have to really want this and just keep saying to yourself either i stick with this and lose weight and get healthy or keep falling off the wagon and gain another 20 or 30 pounds and feel miserable about yourself, and believe me you are not the first nor the last person to fall off the wagon it's happened to me a few times but i've stuck with it and have lost 21 pounds in 7 weeks ,and i feel great ,i'm pretty sure that you can do it give atkins a try stick with it and you will see results!~

I just quit atkins on Monday of this week. I could not stand to eat another salad or meat/cheese or the strange way of cooking .... I am now counting calories and still limiting my carbs. I feel much happier and in control than I did before. I respect others choice to use this woe but just not for me. I was very discouraged to have only lost 6 pds in 4 weeks. And to all of those out there .... yes I did follow the rules of this woe. I wish everyone good luck with their journey and hope you will wish me the same as it is diffucult no matter which plan one choses.

Ya know, I have never fallen off. I have however, plunged off the deep end!! Lost 100 pounds on Atkins, then figured I could eat "normally" again. Two and a half years later, and 100 re-added pounds, I was ready for round two. Then I took the plunge again. Another 1 1/2 years "waisted" and 140 pounds added, here I am, weary but wiser!! Get back on the wagon quick! The years go by really fast, the pounds come back even quicker, and the weight drops ever slower. Good luck

290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

                    Meli-

                    Yes I've been there.
I agree with what everyone said.

For those of us who are prone to put all the weight back on, you are ahead if you can stop this at 10 or 20 pounds like you are doing. See the positive in your stopping now.

                    Try this tomorrow:
                    1. Eat fully on Atkins all day. Have a big satisfying breakfast. Then lunch. Ditto dinner. Drink you water.
                    2. Get the most exercise you can after dinner. Hit the gym, walk, ride your bike, what ever you can do.
                    3. Later if you do want something, have only good snacks around like cheese or celery.
                    4. Get on ADBB and help someone.

                    Repeat.

Once you get past a few days you are back on your way!

After a few weeks your habits are changed again.

Let us know how you do.

Re: how many times have you fallen

thanks guys... well I made it through restarting day one.. I am now on day two and have a cold on top of it... I don´t know some people on here are kinda mean. They make you feel like s for finding this woe hard at times. It is hard. It is a battle it is worth it but it is darn hard. I am not trying to excuse my eating I know no one is to blame but myself but I do wish I could just eat normal and be thin. Go out and enjoy my favorite foods and not gain weight. I have pcos and I know with that low carb is the only way I can manage my weight. I was at one time a size 28 and now I am a size 16 but it is a struggle. I want to cut myself in half again and be a size 8 but every pound is a mountain and sometimes I fall. it just seems that some on here are quick to chastise. not those who replied to this thread but I am refering to another thread I posted... just guess I had to vent here. thanks..

Re: how many times have you fallen

hi meli...vent if you need to. it is ok. hey, it IS hard work. it really really is. i don't know one person who loves to work as hard as all of us do to lose or maintain. i just had to learn to accept that my body does not lose weight easily nor can i go and eat whatever i want to and THAT was hard to do. i had issues with PCOS too. i think what saved my sanity was coming to the realization that even if i could go and eat whatever and not gain weight, my health would not be good overall even if i was thin....so eating this way, learning to exercise and make healthy life changes is a good thing.....skinny is NOT always healthy.

you are doing great. you've lost a lot already. and yes, every pound DOES feel like a mountain so you have a lot to be proud of! keep up the good work. sorry you are feeling crummy and i hope you are better soon!
