  • Anyone use saccharin?

Okay, don't yell at me! I know it's supposed to be bad for you BUT.....
I can't find liquid Splenda sweetner ANYWHERE! I have found the saccharin and have used it a couple of days in coffee and cocoa. I know it's not "good" for me. But if I don't down a bottle a day I think I should be okay and not have to count the 1 carb like I do for splenda.

    Just wondering what others think.

I would not have it, but I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to sweeteners. Maybe you want to read this,
Aspartame - Most dangerous of all artificial sweeteners!

Why do you need *liquid* splenda for coffee? Maybe you can use granulated splenda or stevia instead.

The reason I don't want to use the packets is because of the carb count. I know we are allowed to have "3" splenda carbs a day. But I would like to shave those off if possible.

      Thanks for the reply.

Saccharin is one of the allowed sweeteners
Avoid foods or drinks sweetened with aspartame. Instead, use sucralose or saccharin
        and

        Artificial Sweeteners
You must determine which artificial sweeteners agree with you, but the following are allowed: sucralose (marketed at Splenda®), saccharin, cyclamate, acesulfame-K.

          Thanks Elizellen!
I completely forgot about that in the book. Guess I didn't do the "read the book challenge" to good, huh! LOL

If you want to find the liquid splenda, google sweetzfree. It seems expensive but it's extremely concentrated and lasts for a very long time.

I use Sweet-n-Low (which is saccharine) all the time. When I decided to go with a liquid form to get rid of the fillers, I started using Fasweet and it tastes good in my tea. I buy it at WalMart.

Thanks theredhead. I feel much better about using it now. And a LOT better about not worrying about the carbs!

                Re: Anyone use saccharin?

After reading this thread I went and bought a bottle of liquid saccharin. I like it better in my tea than Splenda. I remember using it in the Ice Age (my teen years about a billion years ago).

I've tried liquid and powdered Stevia but overall I like the saccharin the best in my tea...and my tea is a most important thing. I only allow myself a cup a day as a rule now, down from 6 or 7 cups a day. Better tea = happy me.
