Im just getting through my second week on induction and im staying on it because I still have a lot of lbs to go. Im at 160 and want to get back down to 125, my pre baby weight. I know it sounds dumb but I have a $300 gift certificate to a clothing store that expires in january and I don't want to buy clothes when Im just going to continue to loose weight. How realistic is it to loose 35 lbs by christmas? Im working out 5 days a week, cardio and strength training, and I have been sticking to the induction food except for a protein shake everyday after I work out that has 2 grams of carbs. I have already lost 8 lbs but Im just wondering if it slows down even If induction is continued. Im also thinking the protein shake isnt such a good idea. If anyone has any info that would be great.

Re: Is 35 lbs by christmas doable?
Congrats on the 8 lb. loss!! My advice is don't fixate on that scale because, as we all know, scales are EVIL!
Seriously, that mechanical monster will make you nuts if you let it. I agree ... if you're working out, you're going to tone up and remember that muscle weighs more than fat ... just this morning I weighed myself for the first time in quite awhile and was bemoaning what I thought was a measly 7 lb. loss ... and then I took my measurements. In 6 wks. I lost over 10 inches, and that's what counts! I'm already down two sizes since Aug. 1. So stay with it!

And I'll agree to focus on the inches! It's so possible to lose the inches BEFORE you drop the pounds. Continue to eat right, exercise, drink your water and watch the weight and inches melt off together....or sometimes the inches will melt before the weight because of redistribution

I say wait to buy clothes if your obviously going to try to lose weight until the end of the year. You never know what size you'll be and what does it hurt to wait? Just keep up with Atkins and don't use it as a yo-yo plan if you want to still fit into those clothes by Valentines Day ;o)

I wouldn't by any clothes just yet. Since the gift certificate is about to expire why don't you sell it to someone? With the holiday season just around the corner I bet you could find a taker. You might have to offer a deal... Like say selling the certificate for 250. Then you can take that 250 or 300 or whatever deal you can make and put the cash aside for a time when you are ready to buy new threads.

Don't try and push yourself! You'll most likely end up falling off the wagon...
What I would do if I were you, is follow atkins to a T, and then go out and buy clothes that are "snug"...like 1 to 2 sizes smaller than you are in late december, and then look forward to wearing them comfortably a couple of months from then.
Maybe buy a dress for a special occasion in spring?

Re: Is 35 lbs by christmas doable?
Hi,
I am going to give you advice from a totally different direction!!! Shopping.
Girl I am a pro. shopper for film and TV.
You did not say where the vouchers is from but remember most stores have a 30 day return/exchange and some are longer.
Off course check before you shop with customer service, (oh and not with the sales person at the register) but I would think you could spend the voucher and then if you need to you can hold onto clothes and get smaller sizes in February.
Also here are my thoughts on your weight loss questions. 8 pounds sound like a lot but it's mostly water. Ongoing plan on 2 pounds a week on the scales but it will feel a lot more in size of clothes.
If it isn't on induction don't put in your mouth!!! No shakes. Measure everything and double check against Atkins carb counter book. Also make sure you are getting all the vitamins etc. Oh and no caffeine, no caffeine and no caffeine!

Brilliant point there by Fennela, you are sure to be very close to your goal weight end Jan/Feb so you could exchange for smaller sizes.

Re: Is 35 lbs by christmas doable?
I wish I could finally be like you guys and stick to this WOE, I stayed on it for 11 days last time and lost 13lbs,that was back in like Sept. or Oct, then I gave up and then last week I started it and, umm, oh yeah I stayed on it for....8 HOURS....lol....I'm soooo weak. Congrats on your 8 lbs. If I can lose 13 lbs in 11 days, you can reach your goal as well....You may not be down 35lbs but you'll be fitting into clothes as if had. CONGRATS AGAIN. Can't wait til I gain the willpower and state of mind to join you all on this journey called ATKINS....thanks for the inspiration.
I'M GONNA STOP LOOKING BACK & START MOVING ON & LEARN HOW TO FACE MY FEARS, LOVE WITH ALL OF MY HEART, MAKE MY MARK, I WANNA LEAVE SOMETHING HERE...GO OUT ON A LEDGE WITHOUT ANY NET, THAT'S WHAT I'M GONNA BE ABOUT CAUSE I WANNA BE RUNNING WHEN THE SAND RUNS OUT...CAUSE PEOPLE DO IT EVERYDAY, PROMISE THEMSELVES THEY'RE GONNA CHANGE, I'VE BEEN THERE, BUT I'M CHANGING FROM THE INSIDE OUT, THAT WAS THEN AND THIS IS NOW
