The article didn't display for me - only the comments about it. What was the gist of it?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Elizellen, I think you need to enable Java Script to see the article. Anyway, this link should work without Java: Feature: _A - AOL Health

Thank you Georgiana You were right, I haven't enabled Java on this (shop) computer but the link you gave worked.

        Hmmm, interesting!

I suppose if I was one of the people this article is aiming at (those who have had no success with dieting) I might consider most of the suggestions as being valid.

However - being on Atkins I wouldn't opt for the 'pig out' part, as I try only to eat when hungry as in DANDR.

The bit about not drinking diet drinks seems sound to me, and is yet one more reason for not using them.

Re: Pig out every 18 days

            Hi,

I am actually taking a break from Atkins (I have been stalled for months) and trying out this plan. I was surprised to see the term "pigging" out because that is not at all what the plan is like. I am confused about why it says 18 days too, maybe it is an old article because it does not make sense with the Crack the Fat Loss Code book. Basically in the plan you cycle days of varying amounts and types of starches. Even on the days you are allowed to "carb up" the plan is VERY clear on making sure that you never stuff yourself or "pig out". I am just finishing week 1 of "carb depletion" (carbs under 20, lean protein, moderate fat) and have lost. I do not add in carbs until Monday so I have no idea if this plan will work for me.

Hmmm interesting. I don't think it would help to go crazy eating ice cream and other high carb foods, but maybe increasing the legal foods: nuts, fruit, cream, etc... and increase your calorie count with healthy food. I agree that 'pigging out' might not be the best idea. It doesn't take much to increase your calorie count with healthy fats and nuts.

There seem to be some good tips there. I have heard ice cold water also stokes up the metabolism. I have to be careful when I read these things that I don't allow it as an excuse to pig!! Thanks for posting though. x

Re: Pig out every 18 days

I hadn't heard of this before but I do something similiar. Each month, I pick one day to eat whatever I want but I never go overboard... I just eat whatever and not feel guilty about it. I don't stuff my face with everything in site. I kind of think about it as shocking my system and then I go right back into induction. I've not stalled (although it's still early for me...2 months) but I'm losing 4-6+ pounds consistently every week. I do work out about 3-4 times a week and I'm not as good about my water as I should be and I do take phentermine. The "pigging out" hasn't hurt me yet but like I said, I just do it one day a month. For me.. it also didn't affect my cravings too much. Getting right back on Induction helped with that I'm assuming.

As I said in my original post....low carb food. I'm also tempted to try the every 2-3 hours bit, but when i tried the 4-5 meals a day, I had a heck of a time keeping up with the cooking!
I had no idea this was based on some book....but leave it to AOL not to be perfectly clear And the "eat more protein"....well, now that just comes naturally doesn't it

Re: Pig out every 18 days

                      Hi everyone,

My doctor has me on the eat every 2 to 3 hours routine and I can certainly tell a difference since I've been doing it (started doing it on Sept. 24-0. It was a pain getting use to but now I'm in the swing of things....some days (busy days) I find that I probably haven't eaten as much as I should but I do better the next day. I find that my stomach feels much better eating these small portions rather than eating 3 meals a day and my system seems to be reacting to it very well.

It's a bit of a pain getting use to but I just cook ahead and put things in little zip lock bags or a little plastic container and shove it in my purse (the black hole LOL!!) and off I go.

                      Cheers!
