  • 1st Time on this site, 2nd Time on Atkins!

Hello fellow Atkins followers This is my first time joining a group like this, I'm excited to actually hear people talk about things I am also dealing with. This is my second time on Atkins. First was 4 years ago and I lost 40 pounds in 3 months. This time things are happening a lot
slower I started this second time round on the 14th of October 2008, and was down 13 pounds in two weeks. Then I gained 3 back, and haven't lost anymore since. Is there a way to kick start the losing again? I have a hard time exercising due to severe asthma and chronic bronchitis, but I use my gazelle as much as I can. And to make things worse, I cheated and had wine a few days in a row which is bad. But my husband is a wine salesman, and I used to drink wine every day. Not eating anything but protein is no biggy, but staying away from the wine has proven very tricky. Any tips would be most appreciated. And sending my hubby away until I get skinny isn't an option, I already tried. lol. Thanks for listening.

The problem with alcohol when you're trying to lose weight is that it easily sabotages any losses. Your body will use the alcohol as fuel in preference to the food you are eating and may well store that food as extra fat!!

I find that fact was very effective in making me decide not to drink alcohol very frequently, and if I did do so, not to expect any losses till my body had used it up.

You might well find that avoiding the wine will 'kickstart' things for you. Worth a try?

I was a bit alarmed by your comment
not eating anything but protein is no biggy
Atkins is not a mainly protein way of eating but a high fat/medium protein/low carb one, and Dr Atkins did say
make sure you are not consuming excess quantities of protein. When eaten to excess, protein converts to glucose.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
