  • Does anyone follow the original DADR 1970s?

    Hi

I have been digging out all of my low carb books as I love reading all the sucess stories etc. I have a copy of DADR here and just wondered if any of you follow it and if not, why you chose the DANDR?

I am following the 1992 (American version) DANDR as the UK one has very strange measurements in it.

I would really appreciate any comments.

I am not following 1972 but I have read it. To me however the 2002 version is superior. In the 1972 version all carbs are considered equal but by 2002 it has become clear that that is not true. We now know that carbs will effect us differently depending on the how glycemic they are. I think this added bit of knowlegde is very important. It has led me to understand why certain foods work others many not. It has led me to find combinations that will make certain food works.

I also think that in the 1972 version Atkins is a bit more on the "war path" There are much more pointed information in it. The later verions tend to be more on the "political correct" side. The 1972 version is therefore a bit more refreshing sometimes.
I have not read the 1992 version.
    Well those are my thoughts.
(I do like the recipes in the 72 version though)

Thanks Liv. Actually, the one I follow is the 2002! Sorry, typo in my original message.
I have only flicked through the '72 one but see that alcohol is a big no, no at any stage (I think) of weight loss so I am glad that bit has changed ;-)

Alcohol was allowed. But Atkins wanted you count it as carbs (even if there were no carbs in it).

Oh crikey - shows what I know! I will read the book a bit more. Am generally reading other info in the book as plan to keep going on 2002 plan. Thanks again x
