When calculating total carbs? For example, if an item has 18 g of carbs with 16 g of sugar alcohol and 1 g fiber, is the carb count 1? Thanks for help.

There are various schools of thought on this, and different people react differently to sugar alcohols so some count them and some don't. That being said, if you're in induction, you should probably not be toying around with *anything* containing sugar alcohols just in case.
I count the sugar alcohols as carbs. I don't react to them adversely, but I don't trust that you can eat 7 of the Breyer's fudgesicles (3g net carbs after subtracting sugar alcohols) in one day and still be fine.27/f/5'10"
