Okay, maybe it was my cold or the Atkins flu, I'm not sure. When I tried to find coconut oil at WalMart the other day, I couldnt figure out what aisle to look in. Can anyone give me a hint, LOL? Is it in baking? Specialty foods? Ethnic foods?

Re: What aisle for Coconut oil?
I haven't bought it at WalMart, but at SuperOne it was on a lower shelf with other oils like canola and olive oil. Not in a bottle though, look for something that looks more like a jar. I bet you would get a better price at a health food store though. My local health food store beats supermarket price on most everything.

Thanks for the tip on location and to look for a jar. I was looking for a cooking oil type bottle. I'll have to try the health food store when I go to the city next weekend.Originally posted by momtomany1 View PostI haven't bought it at WalMart, but at SuperOne it was on a lower shelf with other oils like canola and olive oil. Re: What aisle for Coconut oil?
I get mine from our local Indian food shop as it is a common cooking oil in their culture. Thus it costs a lot less than it would in a health food shop.
BTW dont be phased by it being solid - it turns into a liquid at a fairly high ambient temperature.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: What aisle for Coconut oil?
If you're interested in eating it or cooking with it (some people buy it and use it as a moisturizing product), invest in some high-quality stuff. Check your local ethnic market or health food store, stay away from the crap at Wal-Mart! The stuff from WM gives me a sore throat immediately (I've tried a few different jars) yet higher-end coconut oil I can eat with no problems!START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: What aisle for Coconut oil?
ln the Walmart here the extra virgin coconut oil is kept in the section with the vitamins and herbal supplements
and it comes in a plastic jar. I bought some before that (Barlean's) at a local holistic health store and really can not tell any difference (other than the same size container was $5.00 less at Wallyworld). Not sure how or why coconut oil would give you a sore throat but I guess everyone is different
