    Hey guys, hope you are all good! This is gonna sound quite funny...but...I have been losing weight with the atkins, all is going great, about 3 months in now and having a blast. I'm down to 84 kilos am trying to tone up my stomach, which is fine. But I am left with man boobs - while the rest of me is shrinking they seem to be staying!! Anybody know of some good "man boob" exercises that don't include the gym!! ha ha just read that back to myself!

    Any input is greatly appreciated before I have to get the sports bra out

    Hi Ross,

    I'm not a guy, so maybe someone else will come up with a more brilliant idea... but I believe the best "treatment" for your problem is weight training. I am not sure what exercises you are doing, but adding weights makes a huge difference in toning your body. Now you can exercise with free weights at home or you can do it at the gym (where you have more options - free weights and different machines). For this I'd recommend upper chest exercises (bench press, decline push ups...). You can also accelerate everything with cardio, such as running or playing some sports (at the gym there would be things like elliptical machines, rowing machines...).

      I eventually lost the man boobs when I hit 200lbs, down from 240.

        I can relate. I have man boobs as well but for us it's hard because it stays there. You have to include the gym for it. Either you have to lose more body fat or do chest exercise. Bench press, incline, and Decline. You do not have to do heavy weights but a lot of reps. It's either fat man boobs or tone it man.

          Thanks for the advice, I will need to make some make shift weights to use in the garden because I live a looooong way from the nearest gym!

            Congrats on your progress!

            I agree with the previous comments and add: In place of, or to complement, Bench press, incline, and Decline... Push ups are an excellent exercise for your body and you do not need the gym. We offer a push up challenge at ADBB that will get you hooked after about 4 weeks of participating.

            Sometimes an example or a role model helps. I recall this guy had to lose a few pounds for a movie. Note the diet he chose and the very first exercise on the list.

              Does this work on chicks too!! Ha! Sorry guys. But some of us chicks would like to get rid of some of our juguliciousness too!! Not good to fall over cause your top heavy. Ha! Good luck sir.

                i would also consider doing CLOSE GRIP bench press.. it helps ALOT with your more "inner" pectoral muscles which is good.. bench press helps alot with the outside pectoral muscles closer to your shoulders. Close grip is like .. a gap of about 5 inches between your hands on the bar.

                  Yes, it also helps for girls. My boobies (not man boobies) have gotten much perkier with heavy weight lifting (bench press, incline bench press, open flyes, and pushups). And there's better definition with them, and shows clavicle better.

                    As a side note, if your "moobs" are rather, shall we say, "pronounced" that being overweight can sometimes lead to Gynocomastia(sp?).

                    Good Idea to check with your quacker and see about a Testerone level check. Alot of people have had sucess w/ hormone replacement therapy.
