Re: agghhh..my husband doesn´t really get it..
I rarely make two meals. I make sides for them, but they eat the same main course and veggies that I eat. If they're having pasta, I make me some shrimp and broccoli alfredo. If they're having tacos or nachos, I'm having taco salad.
He'll figure it out when the weight starts coming off.

Imagine how crazy for you he'll be once he sees you at your weight goal. Heck, you might even get pregnant again.Originally posted by melimeli View Postand he looks at me crazy

Re: agghhh..my husband doesn´t really get it..
My overweight husband watched in amazement as I started losing while eating steaks, cream, eggs, cheese, and salads. After about four months, HE decided, on his own, to try it. He easily lost 75 pounds and has totally converted to this WOE. Now he tells other people how to do it.

Re: agghhh..my husband doesn´t really get it..
Like most people he doesn't understand, and he has been indoctrinated into thinking low fat is how to lose weight because that is what they teach in schools with the food pyramid thing and all that.
Just tell him if the pyramid was right, then nobody would be fat in this country. Oh, wait, that's right, we keep getting fatter.
hmmm, what do they feed cattle to fatten them?
Grains like that "light" pasta....
then smack him on the head and tell him to read something other than the sports section.
I know, i am harsh. But being a guy, I know that is how to get him to understand."I'm big boned" ...Um, nobody has bones that big....
Buffalo wings, not just for breakfast anymore.
Hey baby, how do you like bald fat guys with no money?

If you're cooking shrimp pasta for them, set aside a portion of the shrimp for yourself before you add the rest to the pasta. Then pair your shrimp with a veggie, as someone else suggested.~Megs~

Re: agghhh..my husband doesn´t really get it..
my husband wouldn't care if I ate fried snails as long as I'm not gripy... and happy with myself for losing some weight...
but yeah... like they said... seems like most meals could almost be the same.. with some sides or additions for the rest of the family...
I mean.. isn't something like baked chicken healthy for everybody? then give them some rice if that's what they love.. and something green.. that you can have as well..2-15-10 194.8 - highest ever!
2-20-10 190.4 - new scale
3-20-10 177.8 - 1 month
5-10-10 169.8 - 25 pounds gone!

Re: agghhh..my husband doesn´t really get it..
My husband doesn't get it either. He worries I am going to have a heart attack from all the bacon I've been eating. I keep explaining that it'll even out once I discover healthier alternatives and recipes. Right now I'm eating what I know. (Thanks to this board though - I've discovered a few great recipes!)
Maybe don't call it "Atkins" since people tend to have a negative initial view of Atkins as all bacon, burgers, steaks and fats. Tell him you're taking a limited carb approach with higher proteins. Just leave it at that. =)
Maybe you should add more veggies to your diet to even out the look of what you're eating? KUP. =)
