Ever hear this saying? "The harder I work, the luckier I get."

Brad Pitt Diet Secrets - Learn Hollywood Weight Loss Tips!

What makes him so special? OK a lot, but pertinent to our ADBB notice:

    - the long-term program - one year!
    - hours exercising per day
    - the high repetition exercise and weight training
    - the low carb, high fiber diet
    - no junk food
    - no cigarettes

Come on guys what do you think?

If we give up our TVs, we can do hours of exercise or at least try.

    What do you gals think?

And you post this without a picture? I read Brad Pitt and ran here hoping to see... something... you know...

I'm not sure how realistic that program is, in the long term, for a 'normal' person. Brad Pitt's job is to look sexy for his movies and he doesn't have to worry about 'real' life issues, but most people have their schedule filled with other... stuff.

However, I don't doubt his training program gives awesome results. Which is why I'm going to do some google-ing now. Just to check... :P

While his might be a extreme case, I thought the diet and exercise described are somewhat close to what we need to be doing if we are serious about being healthy and in shape. I thought it would also prompt some discussion, thanks!

          Hey GMAN

I think Brad Pitts approach is interesting. He is working a different muscle group daily. This is different than the lift twice a week advice my Physical Therapist gave me. Which by the way I have been discharged from Physical Therapy and my doctor wants me to continue at the YMCA on my own. So this is important to me. I dont want to bulk up. I just want to get tone and trim.
I have been working out 2-3 hours a day for the last 10 days and have lost 6 pounds. I am scheduling my workouts into my daily routine and I also took the day off from Cardio on Sat and Sun. I am assuming that sword fighting is considered a cardio workout...wouldnt you? So he basically is doing a different muscle group and cardio daily. I still wonder about the abs? Shouldnt they be in there somewhere?

            Razzle39-

Congratulations on your progress! And your commitment to yourself by doing so well lately! You must be feeling better with the strength and the weight loss!

I agree this is a good example for what you and I want to achieve. Low reps build mass while high reps build tone and overall strength. I think sword fighting must be great for the core including the abs.

Something like this program might be good for me too. I've been trying to evolve to a routine that will continue my muscle tone up and build up ... and lose unwanted pounds at the same time. For six days a week, I've been doing a different muscle group each day but sometimes more than once a week - I am not that strict as long as there is rest for a couple days for the muscle group. I do cardio about half the time, trying to increase it. Back into the gym tonight, will try the 20-30 reps. Have been doing a lot of the weights in his program, will try a couple new ones.

Again congrats and keep doing such a great job!!

              Re: Brad Pitt: Success Story

I really hope none of my neighbors saw me through the window but I was simulating what I think sword fighting would be like and yes.....it works the core. WOW...that is very cool. Look at the six pack on that man and he is not doing 500 crunches a day. (that we know of)

I have noticed that people are trying to get away from traditional crunches and are working thier core muscles in so many other 'fun' ways.

There is a dance video out called 'the core workout' and it is all latin dance. It look like so much fun. I dont think I am going to find any sword fighting classes so maybe I will invest in this dance video.

What an awesome sport. I have never known anyone who has participated in sword fighting.
I can only imagine how many calories it burns. So do you practice with him when you are mad at him? LOL..Take that! and That! On Guard Buster!

LOL Maybe that's what I should do! He is not in good shape and doesn't practice nearly enough, I might hurt him. SIGH.....If only I could talk him into doing Atkins with me. He says that I should join the SCA too cause I'm pretty good with a sword, but I have no interest in that stuff at all. I suppose I should at least go to more festivals with him but I feel silly at those things.

Heh - I've actually considered it, but went into eastern Martial Arts instead (Modern Arnis is my favorite - they're sticks that are stand-ins for machetes). You can get similar core work from those, too.

I would feel a little silly too...
