  • Fell off the wagon

I went out for dinner last night to a very nice restaurant. Enjoyed a 4 course meal & put no carbs off for one night. Had a roll, rice & some delectable, warm chocolatey thing. 2 glasses of wine.
I was sooo sick all night! Terrible stomach ache. I thought I must have eaten something bad. This morning I'm fine. Could the all of those empty carbs have had that effect on me?? I'd like to think so, I think....
How long does it take to 'get back into the swing of things'?

    Re: Fell off the wagon

I have a cheat and been able to get right back into Ketosis within a day. However, for ME, the mental aspect of it screws with me for a LONG time. I am glad you had a nice evening. Do you mind if I ask, Was it a planned cheat?
    Clever signature ending,

        Re: Fell off the wagon

The few times that I have fallen off the wagon, I get an awful stomach ache and horrible bloating. I wake up the next morning absolutely starving and craving all those bad kinds of carbs. It's not worth it to me anymore. I hate feeling like that.

thank you for responding.... it's good for me to hear that you 'widget246k' get ill when you eat the wrong foods. That is such a great incentive to NOT eat them!! I'll have to come up with another celebration dinner!

              Hi G

              HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

It seems like such a good idea at the time and then you feel rotten (physically and mentally) for a few days afterwards. You have convinced me not to go off plan at Christmas.

Hopefully, you should be back in ketosis soon - drink lots of water.

                Re: Fell off the wagon

Oh man, I cheated REALLY BAD the other day (I was in the mall food court with only an AmEx card, and no snacks in my purse --- TRIED to be good, but no restaurants took amex that had more low-carb selections ;_; ended up splitting some pizza with my daughter).

Same thing happened - I was sick & bloated that evening and for half the next day.

It's funny how our body punishes us for falling off the wagon. :P

Luckily I wasn't craving carbs really badly afterwards as a result, it was pretty easy to get back aboard the WOE again. And I doubt I'll be cheating again anytime soon - that was downright unpleasant. x_x

                  Re: Fell off the wagon

I cheated yesterday, too. It wasn't planned and it was ugly. I had the worst heartburn of my life the rest of that day and into today. I felt lousy. I had thought I would cheat on Christmas day, but I don't want to be sick on Christmas. I think this has convinced me that it is just easier and better to stay on plan.

                    Re: Fell off the wagon

It's funny, When I cheat I have almost the oposite effect as everyone else. I usually get fuller faster (Then before I was low carbing) so I feel slightly bloated but not bad. The next day I am still full so don't feel like eating anything and I'm usually full of energy. But it's usually that evening or the next day (2 days after) that I'm craving carbs. About the only punishment I get is the big weight gain after.

                      Re: Fell off the wagon

I actually cheated today. It wasn't planned, my fiancee and I were out walking in a plaza, when he saw a carvel ice cream store. I had just finished my two week induction and wasn't decided yet if I was going to do extended induction. When we got in the store I just had to have some, so I had half a banna spit with my fiancee. Then later I decided, I killed my ketosis for the day and went ahead and ate a cheeseburger with the bun. No adverse side effects yet, except being a little gassy. Tomorrow I've decided to go right back on Induction, at least for another week. I'll wait till later to see if do a 4th week on Induction.

On a happy side - I lost 8 lb so far on Induction w/o as much exercise as I know I should have been doing!! Soo ... Yayy
I plan on exercising more this week, so I hope to lose more
