  • Breakfast...Arggg

Ok breakfast is the hardest thing for me. Its 1:00 am and I am about to go to work in an hour, I work for 4 hours then I'm off and go home and eat. This is my breakfast and then I go to sleep until noon.

Since I get off so early in the morning and I am tired I really don't like cooking. This is where when I have tried starting the induction I mess up the first time I eat. It is so easy to get a muffin or....donuts. uggg.

So does anyone have some ideas for breakfast. I do like eggs but I get sick of them very fast. I would like to not have to cook if possible. I am also staying away from all fast food.

    Thanks for any ideas!

I usually have a salad and 1-2 oz of cheese in the morning.

You don't really have to eat eggs or cook in the morning. For example, you can have leftover meat from the lunch/dinner you had the day before and some salad. Mushrooms can be easily microwaved... it takes seconds. Same for other veggies. Canned tuna is also easy, and you can mix it with mayo if you don't like it dry.

When you have some time (not necessarily in the morning), you can make more muffins and have one every morning. They store pretty well.

Maybe I was looking at breakfast the wrong way. Who says you need to have "breakfast type" foods like muffins and pancakes. Is cottage cheese ok for induction? I will have to go back and look at the food list. One thing I will have a hard time giving up is Milk. I'm a dairy queen. When I get off work I am going to run to the store to see what I can find.

Thanks for the suggestions Georgina, I do want to stay away from muffins though, I'm just starting induction today.

Nope, cottage cheese (just like milk) is not allowed until OWL Rung 2.

In Europe breakfast is often cooked meats and cheeses which are easy to grap and eat at any time. Ham, salami, parma ham mmmmm (all nitrate free of course!) Also I've seen lots of omlette recepies to make eggs less boring, like adding grated vegetables. www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/main-dishes/493-spicy-spinach-omelette.html

When you say you miss milk, would you drink it on it's own or put it in tea/coffee? I didn't like the idea of cream in tea but it works for me as a good substitute for milk and of course cream is a must in coffee.

If oyu can make time to cook one day int he week you could make a couple of crustless quiches with eggs, cream, cheese, meat and veggies in them. A slice or two of quiche is quick and easy to eat either cold or microwaved for a couple of minutes - they keep well in the fridge.

They can help you spread your veggie carbs out too.
I often add cooked grated cauliflower to mine - it makes little difference to the taste but does get some veggies in if anyone is finding that hard!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
