  • what level would this be considered?

I know that I am eating more veggies than allowed on induction but am still able to limit my carbs to 20 grms. Would this be owl? I want to know which level this would be, i kinda just started adding more veggies without paying attention to the owl levels... I am still in ketosis any input would be great
Here is a sample of my daily diet:

    Breakfast: 2 eggs: 1.3 carbs
    2 bacon: .14 carbs
1 oz cheddar cheese: 1 carb

Lunch: 4-6 oz chicken, pork, beef, or turkey either grilled or baked 0 carbs
200 grams cauliflower 3.1 net carbs (with butter)

snack: 85 gram spinach salad 1.2 net carb
    dressing: 2 net carb

    dinner: 6-8 oz meat
200 grams brocolli 7.6 net carbs (with butter)

bedtime snack: 2 string cheese 2 carbs

This give me 18.34 carbs. Sometimes I have hot tea and sometimes I don't. I use 1-2 splenda /day when I have hot tea. I am never hungry except for at TOM.

It looks to me like you may be starting on rung 1 of OWL but then it depends on how many grams of carbs you were getting before adding more veggies.

before I started addin the veggies in I was getting 10-12 carbs/day mostly from eating spinach 2-3 times /day for the fiber.

        You're doing OWL Rung 1.

Even if she's under 20 grams of net carbs from all sources?

Even though the majority of her carbs are coming from veggies, and I know Dr. A said 12-15 of the 20 induction carbs come from veggies, but it just doesn't seem like OWL to me, y'know - she's not going over 20 carbs total, which is part of what OWL is all about, right? Going over 20?

In DANDR Dr Atkins told us we can have a maximum of 20 net carbs on induction
            3. Eat no more than 20 grams a day of carbohydrate, most of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables. You can eat approximately three cups-loosely packed-of salad, or two cups of salad plus one cup of other vegetables (see the list of acceptable vegetables on pages 125-126).
So if someone had chosen veggies with low carb counts for their 3 cups on induction and were getting 'most' of their carbs from veg rather than from cheese, eggs, cream, salad dressings etc then they might well have only had say 10 net carbs on induction.

So when they move to OWL rung one they should be aiming at about 15 net carbs including a 5 net carb addition of one of the allowed veggies.

Then if they move on to rung 2 they would aim for 20 net carbs including an extra 5 net carbs from the dairy rung and so on up the carb ladder till they find their CCLL.

So really the 'eating less than 20 net carbs' only qualifies as being on induction if you are also sticking to the induction quantities, and you could easily be on rung 2 of OWL at the same carb number depending on your choice of veggies.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

so I guess I'm in owl 1-2. I will stick at this level for awhile and see how it goes. I am much happier with all the added veggies. When I add anything in it will probably be another portion or larger portions of veggies. I really can't wait to drink milk again- it will be like christmas day when I can drink a glass of ice cold milk!

Re: what level would this be considered?

Good decision! There are some members who used the veggie rung to find their CCLL by adding more and more veg from the list as they felt no urges for any of the higher rung foods. Then when within about 20 pounds from goal they were able to start switching out some of the 5 net carbs and climb the OWL ladder to discover which foods affected them adversely before reaching their goal weight.

So see how you go on OWL rung 1 and when you feel the need for the higher rung foods, move on up.
