    Ok, I went to the library because there is no bookstore in my town and all they had was the 2003 book 'Atkins for Life'. Is this a good version? I put the 2002 book on reserve but it won't be in until next week.

      hey there... STOP eating the Atkins bars... not sure if anyone said anything. I was at a complete stall... no ketosis... and as soon as I knocked off the low carb bars I jolted back into fat burning
      We started at a similar size, and let me tell you just put your head down and power through... get some exersize... it may be hard initially but even a ten minute walk each day will rev your metabolism into gear.
      Just don't give up... I am almost at 70lbs down, and have lost on average, 2 lbs a week that is averaged out... I did not see it but I was not looking at the path directly in front of my toes... I was looking way beyond... I was wearing 24/26 or 4X pants... down to a 20 or a 1X pant... I have lost LOTS of body fat in places I never knew were so fat... My back fat has melted away, I have a chin and cheek bones
      I did not give up so neither shoudld you... and MEASURE yourself I regret not having measurements from my heavies weight and I regret not having really revealing photos... for me these things are soooo motivating as you begin to see losses... AND YOU WILL trust me... sometimes it just takes a little more time that the average bear...

        Congratulations on your new journey!

        BFGarner and the others gave you solid advice from experience.

        Please join our exercise challenges as this will help you to adopt healthy exercise habits.

        Also, please focus on positive thinking. See your success ... in many ways ... and the setbacks will be only small bumps in the road.

        This is where I have found great personal success.

        You will soon enjoy working out and be on your way to the new you.

        Well, I am off to the gym!

          Everyone already gave you great advise, I just wanted to say keep going!!
          I know it seems hard, espeically when you're not seeing the lbs drop as fast as you'd like.
          But you are changing your body. Try to stay off the scale, try to just focus on staying on plan day by day.... Soon you'll start to see and feel a difference!
          And watch out for hidden carbs! Follow the book, To the TEEEE!!!! especially in the begenning.
          It IS possible.. just keep going. Drink your water, eat your healthy food and EXERCISE!
          And don't worry about how much how soon. Everybody is different. Give your body a chance!

          Officially Re-Focusing on 12-28-09.

          Was, Am, Will be: 280/222/175ish.
          Started Dec 2005 and lost 105 lbs by mid 2006, maintained loss for the most part until 2009...then really let go & gained some back... lol

          so:

          (Induction= only 6lbs but lost 10 inches! yay)

            You have to remember that these atkins bars that use sugar alcohols such as maltitol were not in the atkins endorsed products when Dr Atkins was alive as he did not really approve of them. They stall many people and are really good for the gut.

              Ive never seen the 2003 book, but I assume it would be better than nothing. I also forgot that during a woman's Time of the Month they will retain water and that makes it look like they aren't losing weight....

                I can't offer any other advise than what you go, just wanted to pop in and say - Congrats for starting this healthy new way!

                Ebay will usually have the book or I think even this website has acceptable food listings under induction... (I think)

                  Don't get discouraged!!!!

                  I think Diet Rite is okay in moderation-- I know of only 2 sodas that have splenda~ Diet Rite and Diet Hansens.

                  That seems like a lot of meat-- I know when I use FitDay it really helps to see the ratios of fat 65% protein 35% and carbs 5%. Sometimes my fat % protein vary a few numbers.

                  I hope you do enjoy the book and good luck--- It WILL work.
