  • Wow...I can't believe it...

I made an early Thanksgiving for DH and me, because he's only home today and tomorrow.

Well, in the kitchen now, I have stuffing, gravy, potatoes, rolls and butter, as well as a pie and cranberry sauce.

I have absolutely no craving for the bad stuff. I'm totally looking forward to the turkey and broccoli dipped in melted butter.

We'll see how Thursday goes...my mom is making grilled asparagus and her homemade stuffing. I just have to be strong!

    Happy turkey day to all!

It sounds as if you are well organised and psyched up for this
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

              Thanks all!

We're groggy on the couch...he's asleep and I just took the pie out. He'll have some later.

Whenever I get cravings (which surprisingly hasn't happened except for once when some warm bread was at a restaurant table) I just imagine what I know the food to be like. And that pretty much gets rid of it.

You are the best. Thanks for your support!

              Happy thanksgiving to all.

                  Re: Wow...I can't believe it...

How did you make the gravy? We don't have Thanksgiving here but I am planning ahead for Christmas. I have the cranberry and will have turkey, runner beans, broccoli and brussels with bacon - oh and little sausages wrapped in bacon - but I need some gravy with this to finish it off and I really don't like the texture of thicknthin. I am thinking of ordering some regular turkey gravy and seeing what the carb content is. Zx

                    Re: Wow...I can't believe it...

                    Hi Zarabelle,

Admittedly I used gravy from a jar...I didn't have any. I was just happy to have all hubby's turkey skin to make "rollups" with my turkey meat.

I've yet to try an Atkins-friendly gravy, but I expect that if you reduced it in the pan, it would thicken a little by itself. Not to creamy consistency, certainly, but at least you'd have the wonderful taste.

Another way, maybe, would be to "cut" the tinned gravy with the fat+drippings that you have, along with a bit of cream? At least that might cut down the carb levels. Maybe I'll try that for Christmas too.

Also, since I had lots of melted butter for the broccoli, I started dipping my turkey in it, and it was actually good.

                    Good luck, and happy thanksgiving!

I just add cream to the pan drippings and heat for a little till it reduces to a thicker consistency.
