If you are big like me, and your arms are large (fat or muscle, either way) please be sure to ask the doctor to use a large cuff when having you BP taken.
If a the cuff is too small, your numbers will tend to run high (in some cases up to 50 points high).
Also, don't don't have them check your BP if you are up on the table and your feet are dangling over the edge. That can also raise your BP.
I have learned this the hard way. Once, I actually had someone try to take my BP using a small cuff on my forearm. Remember, YOU are the customer, this is your health, you need to own it. Don't be put on medicines that are prescribed because of an inaccurate reading.
My arms aren't that big, but I still need to use a large cuff.
