  • how come?? (eggs)

how come boiled eggs have more calories and more fat content than paoched eggs??

    2 boiled eggs = 154 cal, 10.6g fat and 1.1g carbs
    2 poached eggs = 142 cal, 9.9g fat and 0.8g carbs

its not like i add anything else besides water to my boiled eggs lol

only thing i can think of is the lost egg parts that fall off in the poaching water.

No two eggs are the same, so when USDA researchers measured the nutritional facts in the lab they (obviously) got slightly different numbers.

i know no 2 eggs are the same, but its really not about the eggs in this case, its about the method used to prepare the eggs.
and for me, i never lose any of my eggs while paoching them, in my special egg paoching container

Yes, so the egg they poached in order to measure its nutritional value had a larger yolk then the one they boiled. It could have been the other way around just as well.

I use the values for a raw egg, especially if I'm not adding anything to the egg.

ya i used to do that too, till i found out that fitday had boiled and paoched eggs already listed.
guess i'll have to switch back to raw eggs for my daily count!

I've noticed that difference in nutritional values in lots of foods, even in the Atkins Carb Counter book and it makes tracking them so confusing. Apparently it's all in the differences in size and lab technics and it makes it alot like the man and the clock. The man with only one clock always knows exactly what time it is, while the man with 2 clocks is never quite sure.
