I'm on day 4 (100th time) and I know so far I'm only losing water weight, so when can I expect the scale weight to reflect real weight loss rather than water loss?
There is no real way of knowing, but Dr Atkins wrote
On any weight loss program, the first weight lost is water weight. Atkins is a particularly effective diuretic, so the water weight tends to come off fast on my program. But be assured that after four to five days, the pounds that come off are primarily fat.
So you should be about at that point soon

I would assume you are there now. I would not expect that you had 13 pounds of water weight, unless maybe you were a sponge.

Hit my original goal of 200 in 2 months.

My max weight goal is 175 and Im trying to keep between 165 to 170.
yea, but... I am @ 210lbs, I have been at 210 before.. 6 years ago may be, but I wore larger sizes and looked fatter.. may be it is the muscle mass? or less fat? Not sure, but I am really happy I found this WOE/WOL..

I would think that once you are in ketosis you are burning fat for fuel. As time goes by your become more efficient at burning fat than storing it. Thats how I read it. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

I'm on day 5 and I have no weight loss!! I was on another diet before and lost 25lbs from 205 to 180. I plateau'd and decided to go on atkins. I haven't lost anything and I get really upset cuz I've been 180 for 2months. I exercise regularly and I'm doing atkins perfectly. Has anyone been stuck like this?

Hi Denise, stick with it and you will lose! We've all been stuck before and it can be frustrating but you can come through it. For now, I would check and make sure you're not eating any hidden carbs and make sure that you're drinking enough water and eating enough fat. Also, I would stay away from the scale for a week or so and then check back- weighing every day just discourages me! Also, take an accurate set of measurements you can refer to later- sometimes when I'm not losing pounds I'm still losing inches! If you really are in a stall after awhile longer on this WOE then try cutting out different foods that might be stalling you then adding them back in so you know for sure. For example, I can only have 2-3 olives a day or they stall me even though they are atkins acceptable and perfectly fine for other people. Good luck!

Thanks Amy!! I can't tell you how bad I wanna throw the scale out the window!! I hope every morning it'll go down!! I'll stay off for awhile!! Otherwise I'm gonna go crazy!! Its only the 5th day of induction so I need patience I suppose!!

thanks Kevin, I've added butter and bacon today for more fat. I feel horrible though. I haven't been to the gym in 3 days, where usually I'm there every night!!

Stick with it! You can do it! And get yourself back to the gym, I'm sure it will make you feel better! Also-- stay off that scale for awhile!

I was on this diet a few years ago and the weight fell off. I too am having the problem of waiting to see when it will come off, so I am interested to see the responses you get- good luck!
