  • Calling all Servers/Waitstaff

I work in a restaurant and was wondering a few things... First off does all the walking and hustling around that we do at work count as exercise? I know I'm on my feet moving around at least 8hours a day 5days a week. Second how do you keep from eating french fries (they are my weakness)
I also have eating issues when I'm at work I find it VERY hard to get a chance to eat, let along eat healthy. So when I finally do get a chance to eat it is normally between 2-4 am... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Working in a restaurant is very hard to do.......

Hustling in a restaurant as a server can definitely add to your exercise. Carrying plates, running from table to table all helps.
I was a bartender for fifteen years in a couple of very busy places. While I only occasionally broke a real sweat, that job helped kept my body in shape. My arms were toned, my legs and butt were firm. When I got out of that business I noticed my arms and legs go. It was just that everyday repetitive motions that really made a difference.

Thanks for all the good advice!! I'm just worried that I'll start hearing fries calling my name lol... So far so good tho! I've been doing it since monday and kept myself a little under 20carbs a day and between 1400 and 1800 calories!

Ooh, I understand! I worked as a waitress through college and I understand how hard it is to work all day and then you just want to go home and not move! I think like Chef Kevin says, it is mostly all about will power! But I'll add to that that it is also a lot about planning. The temptation to snack on french fries is much bigger when you are hungry. I would make sure to have a baggie full of veggies (bell pepper or celery sticks) or lunch meats or cheese cubes or something you can have that is as quick and easy to snack on as fries are. Good luck and you can do it!
