  • Question about Peanuts

Ok, I know peanuts are considered a legume, but I was wondering if anyone thought that maybe Dr. Atkins still meant for them to be included in the nuts and seeds rung. I know there are better choices for nuts, and that peanuts cause cravings for some people, but they are pretty low carb when you subtract the fiber.
Also, on page 174 of DANDR 2002, in the OWL chapter, Dr. Atkins includes roasted shelled peanuts under the Nuts and Seeds categories when describing portion sizes which are 5 grams of carbs.

    Re: Question about Peanuts

I'm fairly confident that peanuts are on the nut rung.

Just remember, you should really only have one serving a day. Try to get the unsalted kind, too.

      Re: Question about Peanuts

You are right, Dr Atkins did list them as being on the nuts/seeds rung so many people do add them there even though strictly speaking they are a legume.

But do take care you stick to the amount he suggested of one ounce (1/2 ounce of cashews) rather than adding 5 net carbs of any of the nuts/seeds, as many people seem to have problems adding larger amounts.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
