  • Atempt Number ??? 5 maybe

    Hi,
Think Ive lost count of how many times Ive restarted atkins.
I had amazing success about 5 years ago and never knew I could be so slim! I felt amazing! I kept it off for about 18 months and then the horse bolted. Since then I have plied on 13 unwanted kilos.I have had many failed attempts at restarting as I have fibromyalgia and I find the first week just totally floored me energy wise and my pain symptoms seemed to increase. I was trying to work as well though. I am now on holidays so I am here to give it another go because i think it is a fantastic way of eating and losing weight.I am on my second day of induction and the same old aching and fatigue are as intense as ever. Do people out there think there is truth to the idea that weight is lost slower when atkins is done second or third time round?? Would love to hear from you. And also if anyone has managed to have any nuts on induction and still have good weight loss results? I know I didnt the first time round. But I notice the Atkins site seems to advocate startining at any stage which surprises me.Because the book is like a bible to me when Im doing this.
    Thanks guys

Around here we tend to discount lots of the stuff on the Atkins company website and stick to the rules in DANDR.

So I would suggest forgetting the nuts initially and leaving them till you get to the nuts/seeds rung of OWL.

When you did lose all that weight did you progress up the OWL ladder?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I do not know why losing weight would be more difficult the 2nd time around but for me it seems that way. However as you age it becomes more difficult so that may be more of the cause. I would like to chalk up my slow loss as age, not the diet. However, slow is better than not at all. Slow is more healthy anyway. The aches and pains are probably the Induction Flu which is a great sign. It is miserable to live through, but at least you know you are on your way. I would highly suggest you follow the rungs in the book and not and skip ahead.

Thanks, Yes the first time round I stayed on induction for a few months until most of my weight was lost and then I progressed through the next three stages of OWL. There is definately nothing unhealthy about this way of eating when it is done properly and it used to annoy me when people would go on about that without knowiing the facts of the different stages of the diet. Hope I can stay strong this time.
