I have decided to go strict induction again for 14 days at least. You see, I actually read the book, and figured out that I was shooting myself in the foot with what I was eating. Anyhow, I made a pledge to cut back my portions, and to stick to a strict induction diet (3 cups loosely packd lettuce, small amounts of creamy caesar dressing (no sugar, 1 g/2 tbsp) eggs and meat) and I found some pre-cooked sausage patties. You know like the ones that you can buy at wal-mart, that are already cooked, and come like 18 to a bag? Well, I looked at the info, and it said that the spicy ones had 1 g/patty, and the plain had 0g/patty. However, the ingredients say dextrose and corn syrup. Should I run? Do I need to re-re-start over again now? I hope not, because them things are good, and easy to fix. Someone, please help!

Pre-cooked sausage patties on induction?

Re: Pre-cooked sausage patties on induction?
Dextrose and corn syrup are both sugars so they should be avoided. I would just finish what I had and look for a new product next time. Remember to really check the label every time you purchase something pre fabricated. It really annoys me how they put sugar in everything.
BTW Atkins lists 40 some veggies that you can eat on induction. He did not intend for people to only eat 3 cups loosely packed lettuce. For the long run it is good to get acquainted with all the veggies that are acceptable. You need nutrients and lettuce is virtually just water. Try some peppers - great stuff.

I never weighed, measured, or limited my non-starchy vegetables - much less my lettuce!Originally posted by liv View PostBTW Atkins lists 40 some veggies that you can eat on induction. He did not intend for people to only eat 3 cups loosely packed lettuce.Sheila, Founder of SugarFreeSheila.com

Re: Pre-cooked sausage patties on induction?
I just read an article in ScienceDaily about what may happen when we are exposed to low doses of sugar continuously. It makes us lose the ability to taste the stuff and makes us want to eat more of it. I find that interesting. Hopefully someone will wake up some day and tell the food industry that it is not acceptable to put sugars in everything.

There are very few sausages that don't have sugar, I know, I've looked. I have found that Boars Head products are pretty good as t are Hebrew National but they are more like hot dogs, polish and Kilbasa.
Another option is to make your own, buy freshly ground pork and add spices to taste. Lots of recipes around.

Take a couple of hours and make a bunch of your own. We bought 15 pounds of ground pork and some spices. Made up 10 pounds of Italian sausage and 5 pounds of breakfast sausage. Portioned it out into plastic freezer bags. No reason you couldn't bake them up(less attention required when baking them then when panfrying) before freezing. Very quick!

Very interesting article and study! That's the reason they put sugar in everything--to get you hooked on it so we eat more and more.Originally posted by liv View PostI just read an article in ScienceDaily about what may happen when we are exposed to low doses of sugar continuously. Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
