  • Help PLEASE

I started low carb beginning of July and lost 30lbs...However with the holidays here I am trying my best to get back on board. I dont know how to get back on the wagon for weight loss. Its harder then what people think. I love the diet, and not sure why my brain isnt working. Now I see why they say dont cheat.

I have fibromyalgia and lupus and my dr suggested the low carb to help with the pain. I need help to start this again. Im tired of saying tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow...I want it to be today. Please help me.

    Re: Helpt PLEASE

I know from experience that low carbing does help with joint pain. I'm impressed that your doctor recommended this way of eating.

One day at a time, come to ADBB daily to read & post often, get encouragement & give encouragement, start a journal to chronicle your journey & maybe join a challenge or two. Reread DANDR for further motivation. After getting through detox your brain will start working as it will be out of the carb induced fog.

    Good luck!

My motto is one day at a time, one pound at a time. I have had to make some modifications for the holidays, but I focus each day and I am proud that I can walk past the cookies at work without even a craving. You can do it.

I am a great believer in the quote
Failing to plan is planning to fail
so would suggest working out in advance just what meals and snacks you intend to eat and get them prepared in advance. Make more snacks than you think you could possibly eat so that if you are hungry you always have something 'legal' to eat to stay on plan.

If you have a fridge full of 'legal' food it will be easier to choose to eat according to your chosen way of eating.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Re: Helpt PLEASE

I hear you, and am struggling with the same thing. Lost 40 pounds from June to September, then fell off the wagon with a thud, and have since gained back 20 of those precious pounds. I am trying hard to get back on track. I joined the 6 week exercise challenge, the abs and pushup challenges for December, and feel like those are helping somewhat. Besides getting moving, I just have to remember what it felt like to look great in my clothes, feel comfortable in my body and LOVE what I was eating.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed that you won't experience the same results you did before going off plan. But this WOE does work- We know that. We know that it only takes 2 or 3 days to get in ketosis and to start feeling all those great benefits. You can do this. Focus on getting through one day, and pretty soon you will be counting the weeks, months, and sizes that fly by! You are worth it, get a jump start on the new year, and be ready to work hard for that success you want and deserve so badly!

          Big hugs to you

            Re: Helpt PLEASE

To get through these tough holiday times I make sure to STUFF myself with atkins friendly foods BEFORE I go to a gathering. Grandma's cookies do not look as good after you have had 2 pounds of turkey and a garden salad. You would not go grocery shopping on an empty stomach, so do not do the holidays on one either. Keeping myself very full got me through the first few weeks and has really helped me through the holidays. THe funny thing is that I eat more than twice as much as I used to, but it adds up to less than half the calories. Do the math, throw in ketosis, add a bit of exercise, get some support from these atkins veterans, and we have a recipe for success. Welcome aboard..... Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Suggestion: Everytime you feel like falling off the wagon, come here and write about it. That REALLY helped me (it wasn't here - it was another group, but same idea. The people here are terrific too.)
