Most sea salt is bleached and all the minerals have been removed--so it's "as bad" as regular salt. ALL salt is from the sea. Bleached and processed salt is harder on your body than real, unbleached, unheated sea salt. Regular salt removes all the minerals and leaves only the sodium. We need iodine, but iodized salt needs dextrose (sugar) as a carrier for the artificial iodine.
That said, your body needs salt/sodium. Processed foods are loaded with salt, so if you are doing Atkins right, eating mainly whole, fresh foods, using a good sea salt is needed.
I only use Redmond RealSalt. It still has 50+ trace minerals, including natural iodine. It has the proper ratio of potassium, magnesium, sodium and iodine that your body needs.

and I am not Diabetic!!! What a relief. I have been cutting down on cheese, salt and bacon and the thirst is finally being quenched!!!
