  • Powerjuicing your veggies

I was wondering if any of you power juice your fruit and veggies? I am on induction and just got a brand new Jack Lalanne powerjuicer. I was also looking for some juicing ideas.

Definitely eat the whole veggie or fruit (when you get to the fruit rung on the ladder). We try to avoid sugar shocking our system and when you remove the fibre by juicing what you have left is quite sugary.

I am not sure which page, but it does say right in DANDR to not juice your veggies. It will remove the fiber which is the reason that it is acceptable. I was always told that it is a bad idea to drink your calories. Good luck and Happy New Year!

Juice isn't allowed during Induction Phase.

Juicing a veggie or fruit removes the fiber. The fiber in fruits and veggies helps slow the absorption of the sugars, which helps to stabilize your blood sugars. The weight loss on Atkins is partly due to keeping your blood sugar levels stable.

                Re: Powerjuicing your veggies

well heres a strange idea i came up with in ten minutes ( not atkins diet) i want your input on this

                dietary plan

start off morning with regular breakfast
with tea or coffee(black) or fresh juice ( from a juicer or blended together/with milk)

keeping the meals as small as possible and spaced out throughout each day.

in between have a cup of veggies that are juiced up alongside with 2 cups of water spaced around 45 minutes after each other.

do the same with a cup of juiced fruits.

have a lunch, again small but enough to fill you up but not too much , so it can digest properly.

one cup of protein ( juicer/blender with soy milk)

two cups of water spaced out 15 minutes apart.

a cup of blended grains ( with regular milk) to flush system 2-3 hours prior to supper.

regular supper also small enough to digest but large enough to fill you.

have another cup of blended grains and two glasses of water.

( all this is done along with excercise throughout the day) walking up stairs down stairs etc etc.

keep in mind u have all your basics its not 100% juicing diet. it combines juicing/blending + regular meals and excercise/sleep etc.

every now and then add some herbs/spices to add some extra kick to your meals.

remember -> " the key to losing weight starts with a smaller more digestible meal"

                  Re: Powerjuicing your veggies

Sounds awful to me!! Hardly any real food at all, more like a liquidised diet, and as you said in the first paragraph - not Atkins at all.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                    Re: Powerjuicing your veggies

there is food there .......... if u read carefully you get ur normal 3 meals a day , to make sure u don't over eat the liquid part of the diet helps as well ( with cleansing the bad stuff from your body)

it does actualy work cause i used to weigh 350 pounds 2 years ago , i had virtually no energy whatsoever. the smaller portioned meals helped me digest my food much easier allowing for the cleansing part of the diet to get rid of all the accumulated junk left in my stomach from eating burgers, pizzas and large cinnamon buns.

i now weigh 160 pounds and still continue the diet . i've had so much extra energy i've been working on putting it all into extra work outs .

                      Re: Powerjuicing your veggies

Surely, if I did this I would spend much of my day in the bathroom. I was a vegetarian for 15 years and would fast regularly and am open many ideas.Perhaps this as a cleanse is okay. However, I do not see this as a lifestyle change diet that can be done on an ongoing basis. Atkins shows us how to reduce weight and eat in a healthy way for life. Sorry, but as an oldie who has been through much of this stuff -the reason we have teeth is to chew our food-there are times we may get to in our lives where we're not able to do this- which is sad. I don't see this as a fulfilling WOE for most but to each their own!

                        Why are you here?

If that is a plan you are happy, healthy and set for life with... or is it taking up too much of your time to carry it out, plus leave time for your workouts... Alas, while I suppose if someone were to knock out my teeth, or I needed tube-feeding or otherwise were forced to do without biting, chewing, or normal digestion, I'd happily continue the OWL phase with a similar-to-that-one regimen, which I'd certainly be bored with in no time.
Pass the steak, artichokes, olives, tossed mixed salads with cruchy bacon bits and parmesan...
My Mom raised me to age 2 on a diet similar to the one in your post, though (she cut big X's in the bottle nipples. Mmmmm... Goop bottles...
..I turned out OK, but boy did eat a lot later!)

By the way, how much of the valuable food you purchase ends up wasted/discarded/in the mulch pile, and how much so you have to spend on fiber supplements?

Are you replies directed to me? I asked a simple question. There is no need to start sermoning me on what I spend on fiber supplements.
I did not intend to replace any meals with any kind of liquid diet as you are suggesting. I only asked the question to add variety and not let my Christmas present go to waste and just so you know my juicer came with a recipe book to use the remaining pulp. So it is not going to waste. Speaking of fiber supplements, I think you need them. Based on your replies, it sounds like you need some relief.

I learned to never ask a question here again. Thanks so muck for your support.
