  • Major Stress!

Has anyone dealt with major stress while on this diet. I am on day 5 and have been doing really well. Went I went to the bathroom this morning, I looked at my stomach and it looks deflated! I haven't weighed myself since I went to the doctor a few weeks ago because I do not have an accurate scale but I really feel like it is coming off.

Yesterday, my employer informed me that my position would be eliminated and my last day is 1/16. They are paying me through 2/6 which is great but I still can't help but worry.

I hope I don't fall into my bad eating habits again...does anyone have any stories they would like to share?

    Thanks everyone!

I know how you feel. I too got the padded boot from my job a couple of days ago. One good thing for me is I was cooking in a really good restaurant I think that is where a portion of my poor eating habits were coming from. Hang in There. Be strong, Use the force!

I am a high end chef and there are no jobs in my area and I can't afford to move. I have been out of work for 6 months and studying to go back in IT work just to come close to the money I used to make.
So, stress is a part of modern life.

But, stress doesn't make you eat anything, it just makes you WANT to eat something. You can beat it.

I am in I.T. too and live not too far from you girl! I am working in Carbondale, IL and live in Du Quoin, IL............

It is the Southern Illinois area and St Louis area where we live that there are no jobs.....

I wish I wouldn't have moved back home to be near my family because in Virginia where I was living for the past 15 years there were plenty of jobs available in I.T.

                  Re: Major Stress!

One thing that helps me when I am having stress or trying to cope with things outside my control (Husband's illnesses etc) is to remember that choosing what to eat is the one thing I CAN control.

So I concentrate on planning and preparing so I am never left with no option but to eat offplan and give myself kudos for the times I succeed rather than blame when I don't.

What a great way to put this into perspective...and since I am a big control freak, this just might work for me...

The day is almost over and I unbelievably, I have not wanted to cheat. It is kind of weird that I have been so focused on staying on track today.

                      Re: Major Stress!

If I didn't have something stressful happening nearly every day, I would think that aliens had taken over my body and life. You just have to find ways to make the way you eat the most important thing in your physical life. The worse your eating habits, the worse stress hurts you.

When you wake up each morning, make yourself find at least one thing for which you are thankful. It can be as small as the sun is shining. Do the same as you go to sleep. No matter how tiny the positive may be, it keeps your mind off the negative and worry. Only allow yourself to worry productively. If you are not trying to find a solution for what is worrying you, stop doing it! Don't wallow. You are much stronger than you think you are.

                      Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Life in this economic slump can be stress from many directions. You are not alone, I have many stressful things that are popping up in my life right now and I find being on Atkins, my cravings stay in control and I don't eat my way into depression any more. Have faith, knock on doors, the right one will open for you.

                          Re: Major Stress!

Stress? Wow - in the last 60 days -

Siding replacement on the house so sub-standard that we have had to hire an attorney.

One of the boys living in my house was driving my Jeep.... and hit a child

Cocoboy became ill - fevers, seizures. Hospitalized. Discovered a 5 inch mass in his brain. Couldn't decide if it was infection or cancer. Three weeks later - after multiple antibiotics, HUGE amounts of steriods, they decided it was virus. Still don't know what, tho.

Hubbie diagnosed with prostate cancer just before Christmas. Still waiting on the fallout from that.

My mom just completed chemo for Stg III basal cell carcinoma. One the day that she finished, her husband of 30 years left her for a 34 year old.

My dad was diagnosed last week with Stg IV lymphoma, with mets to the stomach and pancreas. He is in the hospital right now with a white blood count of zero.

                          Ugh

Some days, I think that my head is going to explode. Other days, I just want to sleep. Thankfully, food - at this point - is the LAST thing on my mind!!
