  • New here and have few questions about atkins =)

Hi everyone! i'm new here. and i have a few questions, if anyone could help me that'd be great! well i'm 18yrs old, 5'3 and used to weigh about 215-220. my aunt told me about the atkins diet, so i tried and lost 40lbs! i now weigh about 180. that was about 4months ago. i have stopped dieting since then. however would LOVE to lose 25-30lbs more my question is how much weight could i expect to lose during the 2 week induction phase when i start again? my goal is to meet my target weight within 2months. is this possible to lose 30lbs in 2mnths? every1 tells me "NO WAY!" but what better place to come and ask then the atkins bulletin board?? lol

Hi Nina and welcome! I don't think it is impossible to lose that amount in two months but personally I wouldn't expect it! I don't want to dash your hopes and you can certainly try to make that goal but often losing the last bit is the hardest. It looks like we are roughly the same weight with the same amount left to lose. I'm not expecting to lose the rest in two months- I want to give my body room to do what it needs to do while I'm getting healthy and I'll get to goal eventually. But that doesn't mean it is impossible! Everyone is different with regard to how much they lose during induction. Also, take measurements of yourself- you might be losing more inches than pounds!

I would also REALLY recommend reading the book, Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) to find out everything you need to know about this way of eating. Often when someone tells us about the plan without learning about it for ourselves we miss the finer points. I did "atkins" on and off for years just relying on what my mom had told me about when she did it! It worked pretty well but not like it started working once I read the book and learned how to do it for real! Good luck!!
