  • Anyone only trying to lose 15-20 lbs?

I'm looking for those of you who are only to lose a small amount or have already succeded. I recall seeing a picture or post by a female my height 5'3 who started at 140 and got down to 109.

Just wanting to understand with challanges and tips. I'm thinking it may be slightly harder and take special attention to lose the final 15-20 lbs.
Female - (husband is Evoking also on forum)
    Age: 24
    Height 5'3
    Start Weight 131lbs
    Goal 110-115 lbs
    Start date 12/28/08

    1/5/09 - 127lbs (woo-hoo induction is working!)
1/18/09-125lbs (seemed to be stuck here Must start OWL)

Re: Anyone only trying to lose 15-20 lbs?

I'm 5'4" and had 25 lbs to lose. What I found difficult is having patience! I lost 8lbs during induction, and another 4 the next month, but after that it was really slow going for the next 8 months. I found that moving on to OWL, upping exercise and not staying in induction what the key to getting that scale moving more.

In the end, it took me 10 months to lose 25lbs. But it was worth it.

I"m now struggling with a few post holiday pounds, but I know from my past experience to be patient, the closer i am to goal, the slower the pounds seem to come off.

Re: Anyone only trying to lose 15-20 lbs?

I've lost about 15 pounds on Atkins. At first it came off quickly (about a pound a week) but it was really severe and it wasn't really Atkins - it was anti-candidas, which is far fewer carbs than Atkins. The last 5 l bs have been tough. They initially came off when I got sick and quit eating. I was then kept them off on 30 carbs/day until I had tooth problems, changed my eating habits. Now getting those last 5 off is hard. I'm not sure if they will come off. Except for my ego, and training from growing up in the diet-obsessed 60s, the last 5 pounds aren't that immportant. (holistic) Doctors are fine with me as where I am.
So I'm back to not worrying about the weight, and just watching the carbs for other health reasons. I'd love to be thin (well, I'd settle for a flat stomach, I don't think thin is in the genes), but I'm more concerned about getting the nutrients so I don't get osteoporosis (I'm in danger), have enough energy, blah blah blah.

When I started Atkins two years ago I lost 40lbs from 180lbs. Now I have been maintaining at 145 and want to get down to 130. That 15lb weight loss has been harder for me than the 40lbs weight loss! Let's keep each other motivated!

            I'm 5'2".
In 2007 I lost 30 lbs, went from 140 to 111. Took me 6 months. The hard part was maintenance, I planned a cheat weekend and lost control, and ended up gaining back 20 lbs.
I'm back on Atkins and I'd like to lose 18, get back down to around 112- 114.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

So glad I found this posting. I am about the same stats as Anymac. I've done Atkins one other time, induction for 3 weeks...right before Thanksgiving!! Great results, went from 130-118, then the holidays came! My weight has been hovering around 127-130 since. Decided it was time to crack down again. Would love the support from other women who are also trying to go from the high 120's/130's to 110ish. It seems to be a difficult journey for us!

Me! I only have about 18.5 pounds to lose until I hit goal. I have noticed that being smaller has made my weight loss seem slower than some of the other members here. I just have to remember that slow and steady wins the race.

I have about 15 pounds to lose. I found over the years with trial and error that not only do I need to limit my carbs but also my calories. I track everything in sparkpeople.com and enter my results in an Excel spreadsheet to keep me on track. Hope this helps and good luck to you!

*I no longer weigh myself regularly. Next weigh in will be at the beginning of November with a trainer to get an update on my body fat percentage.

Taking it slow and steady for both marathon training and this wonderful new lifestyle!

                            Hi Ladies!
I'm 5'4" 33 yrs old mom to three.
I am on week three, just started OWL.
I went from 150 to 139 in exactly three weeks. My goal is 125, maybe lower, depending on how I look!
I'm being really careful & not cheating at all. Exercising, about 2 miles of fast walking at least every other day.
But I can see the weight loss slowing a bit already...which is normal I know.
I already notice a big change in the way I look & feel.
I had bleeding on my gums since my last child was born two years ago & that's gone. My mild psoriasis is totally gone also!!
I have always suspected problems with candida, & I had some die-off symptoms. I really am so excited about my new sugar & wheat free way of life. Let's all meet our goals by the summer!!

How's everyone coming along? I haven't weighed myself in over a month but I feel like I lost in some aread and gained in others. So we will see, thinking about jumping on that scale today. Scary. Would love to be at goal by summer. Can't wait, it's cold and dreary and totally unmotivating here in NY!!!!
