  • 14days in and tiny weight loss

Hey there....Have just finished the 2 week induction cleanly.Weighed today I've lost 3 lbs.
Following the Induction was no problem for me luckily.Exercising is thankfully no problem either as I love it.Exercised each day (cardio)with a minimum calorie loss 1000 I really thought I'd of lost at least 8 lbs if not more.
Food intake for a typical day.....
an egg some times 2 and 1-2 pieces bacon
Lunch a bowl of salad and cheese (1-2 oz) 1tb cream mixed with water and mustard.
Dinner a piece of meat and 3 veg
    I'm satisfied in being full.
My net carbs are the right amount.
I can see changes in my stomach ,bit I really thought I'd of been lighter on the scales.I don't want to gain any muscle as I've got plenty of that.

    stats....
    4' 10''
    SW 143 lbs Now 140lbs
    GW 101 lbs

Any pearls of wisdom would be thankfully received and appreciated.
I'm staying on Induction until a nice chunk of lbs are missing from the scales.
I do need to get scales that measure BMI.

    many thanks and smiles

Congrats on your 3 lbs gone! The direction is right and that's the important thing.
If you can see changes, then you're on the right track. Often it takes the scales a little while to catch up with your actual body changes. I bet your clothes have begun to feel looser. Try measuring. The tape measure is a better guage of loss than the scales which are notoriously cruel and unreliable. Hang in there!

Sounds like you are being too careful about your fat intake. Put some ranch dressing or some mayonnaise on that lunch salad, and eat a chicken thigh with skin on along with it. Snack on a few cubes of cheddar cheese in between meals. Use real butter on your dinner vegetables. If you don't get enough fat and calories, your body will kick in to "starvation mode" and you won't lose weight. I am short and don't seem to be able to lose more than 2 pounds a week, but if I eat less than 1500 calories a day, I don't lose ANY weight.

Hey there Sallyseachange thanks so much for the truely inspirational link.
You read all the great achievements of everyone in their Inductions and beyond amazing lb loss, then 3lbs.I'm really greatful for the 3 lbs believe me it all counts doesn't it.
It's such a relief not to be counting calouries or fat content of products.
I took the measurements but I measured the wrong spots for my waist ,top of arm and also thigh oh and hips!! Oops.LOL, so now redone those measurements properly I'll remeasure in another 14 days!
I'm a big fruit person and thought I'd really struggle without my bucket of fruit but that's not been the case at all.
I feel great on Atkins and on this site.
You look fantast Sallyseachange just amazing.
        Thank you so much.

          Hi there Judyintn
Thanks for your insight greatly appreciated.
With the fat content I'm pushing the boat out I thought.2oz of cheese I thought was alot, that fillls me up on the salad.I put cream and mustard on the salad.I really struggle with dressing that's a problem as I love them on their own.
I cook my eggs in butter ,again I don't like things on my veg sometimes olive oil and a little cream as a sauce.
I love fruit that is my downfull, I guess I do get most my daily calouries from my fruit intake (before Atkins).I'm not having any fruit presently.
I'm not hungery after the bacon and egg protein is filling.I will look at adding more fat.Boosting calourie intake
          2lbs is a good loss /week.
I've read amazing people having amazing lb losses I was just getting in the clouds for me.
Thank you so much Judyintn ,congrats on your loss.

hey, try using the urine strips to see if you're in ketosis. I can understand about the fruit. I love it too and gave it up for Atkins. LOL. I agree with some of the others you may not be getting enough fat or protein intake. I did atkins some years ago so I'm just getting back in the swing of things and I was upset that the scale wasn't moving fast enough but my clothes look and fit better. I've been back on about a week and was able to stop taking my adipex to curb my appetite. Atkins has done that for me Now I have to remember to eat something, try eating 6- 8 small meals that might help.

First I think being a smaller person I think 3 lb is great. Congratulations
I think with that amount of exercise you are probably developing muscle mass. It is going to be heavier than fat and you will not see the results on the scales that easy but clothes size will change.
I exercise a lot (I think ) but rarely do I do 1000 cal so you are really giving it your all. That is great. Just make sure you eat. If you do not your body will try to hang on to what it have rather than giving up the fat.

thanks for that .Just today I went down to Boots a chemist chain in the UK and that particular branch didn't have the keto sticks. That is a priority mission!I've the meaty breath the 2nd and 3 rd day was days of no energy it took all my effort to blink.
More cheese and 6 smaller meals or so through the day sounds good.I'm getting a BMI scale aswell.
I go down the fruit aisle at the supermarket and hug pineapples just about.hehe.....
God luck thank you so much....

I am sure the moderators are going to crusify me but I think you should have had a larger weight loss then that. Have you thought about giving up cheese completely? It may help you out. I have known lots of people that had problems with this diet and cheese.

If I were you, I would cut out the cheese for a week and see how your results go.

Re: 14days in and tiny weight loss

You lost 3 lbs out of about 40, so that's 7.5%... which is right in the 5-10% weight loss range one should expect during induction. In my opinion, you are doing just fine. This is how you're going to eat for a lifetime (at least, that's how Atkins is designed), so there's no reason to rush.

About the calories issue... I'm not sure what the BMR is for your height/weight (my stats are very different from yours), but what I have noticed is that while eating way under my BMR allows me to lose about 3-4 lbs per week in OWL 1, it also increases my chances to cheat (in the long run, 2+ months). Also, for about a week after increasing my caloric intake to just a little below my BMR, my weight loss will slow down, to then *restart* again at the usual pace after the initial "shock". I think our bodies got confused by low-calorie diets and whenever we eat a healthy number of calories they tend to desperately grab them, because they can never know when the next normal meal is going to come.

And now the cheese... there is no reason why you should eliminate it. Cheese is something most people enjoy on Atkins and giving it up is a big sacrifice. Unless it stalls you (and you are obviously not in a stall), there's no reason to worry. Even if, let's say, cheese slows down your weight loss (which, personally, I do not believe is the case), it does not throw you out of the typical (induction) weight loss range (5-10%). You can choose to stick to meat, eggs and veggies, reduce your food choices, get bored and cheat after a month (you might think this is not going to happen to you, however I've seen it more often than it worths mentioning)... but lose 6 lbs instead of 3 in two weeks... or make Atkins a lifestyle, enjoy decent portions of all the wonderful foods that don't stall you, and be patient about your weight loss.

I think you are doing great. You are on plan, you lost over 7% of your excess weight and you are exercising consistently. Just relax, don't set deadlines on your weight loss, keep doing what you're doing and enjoy the Atkins ride.

Hey there Georgiana your advice is very encouraging,7.5% rate when put like that is great.3lbs is fine exercising 1000 cal /day I'd think 6lbs in a fortnight.
